Learn how to repave your driveway, including digging out the old driveway, laying down stone for a good sub-base, grading, leveling, and compacting that stone, and finally laying down fresh hot mix asphalt. This new asphalt driveway came out amazing and I cannot wait to use it to make more videos!

Sorry for the lack of content recently. Life happens… I got the driveway redone so I couldn’t film for a few weeks and then I went looking for houses in another state and got sick so I had to quarantine for another 3 weeks until I got a negative result. But now I’m all better and back at making new videos so stay tuned! Thank you for the support!
  • @YouTube
convinced chris can fix anything 🤯
  • The cost was less than I thought. I thought it would’ve been at least $10k. Definitely worth the $6k! And it’ll last at least 20 years. Looks great!
  • Like people have stated, it's crazy you can get this precise work for 6,000$ and completed in just 4 hours. This is unheard of in most parts of the world. Usually where I live the same process is never completed this quickly, On average such things take DAYS yep DAYS not hours. These guys did a stellar job and this coming from someone who used to prep ground for asphalting and sometimes involved in asphalting as well.
  • As an Asphalt Contractor, 6k is a very good deal! They did quality work start to finish and did not skip any steps!
  • From fixing cars now Chris is teaching us to repair driveway!!!! Legend!
  • Hi Chris. Driveway looks good. Been doing asphalt for 30yrs so this will sound picky. But the reason why there’s rock pockets near the garage and by the concrete walkway they cut is because they too too long to compact the asphalt right away. When you spread by hand or rake and shovel by hand you end up separating the sand and rock in the mix and end up with segregation. So you have to compact that area right away before it loses heat. In this case they should have had the plate compactor ready to go and start once there was room. Anyhow some future advice would be to seal your driveway, doing that will prolong the life but also hide any imperfections on the driveway. I just stumbled on to your channel and I’m really enjoying your content. It’s really helped me out a lot. Thanks for the Tips !!

I've been doing concrete and paving all my life and Chris just explained it better than I ever could
  • Your parents must love how well equipped you are to repair anything, and help other people by recording it
  • @apm3rk
I’m convinced Chris’s style of recording, editing, and constant voiceover is why his videos are always so fun to watch. I couldn’t care less about laying down asphalt but I still watched the entire video without ever feeling bored or uninterested!

This is one of my favorite Chris Fix videos. I think it's because the work was done right and it was an impressive transformation. The guys did an excellent job.
  • @hudsonja
Wow, it's hard to believe that only took 4 hours. Just goes to show how hard these guys work and how well they've mastered their craft. Amazing stuff.
  • Those guys did a brilliant job! I love it when tradesmen/builders keep their equipment clean like that. Shows a true commitment to the craft and job at hand, and any equipment works better when it's clean anyway!
  • I have zero experience with tar, but my dad and I have done a bit of low budget concrete work. It takes two people, an electric concrete mixing barrel, a couple of trowels and a bull float, some 2x4s to build a perimeter, gravel for the base layer, and a couple pallets of Quikrete. For so few tools, it's a good way to accomplish jobs the DIY way. One guy is the designated mixer who fills the dry concrete into the mixer and blasts it with a garden hose while it's spinning to keep the mixer clean and the mixture at the proper consistency. He dumps the mixture into a wheelbarrow and hurries to repeat with the next batch while the other guy fills the space with concrete and packs it with trowels, leveling it and smoothing it as he goes. Once the concrete is level with the top of the 2x4 and you have a section large enough to work with, he gets a 2x4 and shimmies it across the surface to pack, level, and smooth. As necessary, he will skim a bull float across to keep the finish smooth across the whole section. Batch consistency is key. Dry spots and soup puddles will not help. It will not be fun. You will be sore, soggy, and tired. Embrace the suck and you'll get results that are shockingly good.
  • It doesn't matter what you do for work as long as you take pride in doing it. These guys made this look easy because they are so experienced and really take pride in it. Like you said the results speak for themselves.
  • @dougb27
The fact they fixed the side wall without complaint says a lot about their company. They definitely know how to conduct business.
  • @herlegz6969
Absolutely fantastic, the best part is showing the cost and time it took. Thank you! Get a lawn reinvigoration for a paradise background while fixing!
  • @The.Mr.M
Great video Chris, you did a great job showing and explaining the process of replacing your driveway. Im a fourth generation paving contractor. You used correct terminology on nearly everything and explained it cleaner than I've ever heard! $6k was a solid deal.
  • I'm on a paving crew and lay asphalt every day. I can tell you that you picked a solid outfit to do your driveway. They did a great job
