I went deep into the forest to learn more about a popular prefab home. There are a lot of prefab homes options available but very few grow their own wood, this might be the only one. Masaya Homes is building ADUs with reforest teak grown in Nicaragua and shipping them to the United States. In this video I learn more about the process and what it actually looks like in real life. Watch and learn more about Masaya Homes.

This is exactly the type of project that Nicaragua needs. I was in the Matagalpa region in 2009 - the deforestation for coffee and cattle was horrific, with serious negative repercussion for the people due to soil depletion and the hazards of mudslides during the rainy season. Bravo to them for their mission, and thank you for highlighting them!

I love that they are replanting Teak and build with Teak, it's a fantastic product. Now if we can get Honduras and South America to replant Mahogany, that would be incredible.

Fantastic video… I love that it was entertaining and educational… Also, Nicaragua is incredibly beautiful.
  • Kerry this was fantastic! The location! Wow! Plus the information and eco responsibility by Masaya Homes is great! Reforesting and maintaining ! I planted 90K trees in Northern Ontario, in 2001 to reforest an area burned in a forest fire!
  • WOW, excellent video man! The homes are lovely and the teak is definitely a classy touch!
  • Incredible! The lengths you go to!! Very impressive! You have entered the Master class of Tiny Home presenters!! I'm going to call you my Tiny Home Sensei!! I now am a registered participant of Kerry's Tiny Home Dojo. Class #1: barbed wire, what barbed wire?

Kerry, I really love how your videos are getting more in depth. You and your team are doing an excellent job not just touring a home, but providing history and sharing the missions or goals of the builders. I really don’t know which I am more impressed by, the gel that holds your hair up even in the Nicaragua forest or the great videos you are presenting.

Great update on a very interesting product. And love learning about the sustainability of the forest as well as the carbon footprint. Cheers!

So many of these comments are negative regarding the price or that the project isn't the 'perfect' environmental solution, blah, blah, blah. Social media allows us all to voice our opinions. But how about we stop the navel-gazing, what-about-me BS and appreciate the hard work this company is doing and Kerry's efforts to bring us all a variety of quality content? If this project isn't for you, MOVE on.
  • Great content on prefab homes, and now social, eco forward thinking stuff -- You're ripping it up, there Kerry! TY!
  • @Sweetp520
Hi Kerry would you please link the vid to your showing of these homes ..thank you❤
  • A Canadian walks through a Nicaraguan tree pantation in JULY and asks "Am I the only guy sweating? :D :D :D Great video and i am so glad you revisited Messiah Homes. I love that they do the furniture too. Teak is a great water-resistant wood. Perfect fit for any region with unusually more frequent rain and generally more wet weather than usual. Less maintenance.

What a great video! What a trip you took for the people who watch your channel. This has to be expensive to do, but so good for the environment. The house is very cool looking too!

Thank You for the filed trip. Oops! sorry for the fall
  • Wow! This is definitely a cut above even your most adventurous postings! I am so impressed that you went to Nicaragua and bothered to get the backstory on these housing projects. Thank you for your amazing work!
