Lewis still hasn't signed his contract extension. So I wanted to talk about it, specifically why I think he should be pushing for ownership in the team. And if he was to leave, who should be Mercedes first backup option?

Basically the question isnā€™t whoā€™d replace Hamilton. Itā€™s whoā€™s being Georgeā€™s wingman. As when Merc get back to the top the wonā€™t want a Hamilton/Rosberg repeat.

I donā€™t see Lando leaving McLaren with the way theyā€™re going at the moment. I also donā€™t see Charles leaving Ferrari willingly any time soon, I think the only way he leaves Ferrari is if they kick him out.

I think albon has proven he suites the williams and george's transition went very well, it only makes sense to promote alex, particularly as lando is more likely set for redbull, not to mention his contract isues rn whilst alex has proven on his day he can perform in top machinery, and the mercedes is essentially the williams' car on crack

I'm glad that HĆ¼lkenberg is actually being talked about, as I still think he's a very solid option that nobody really is considering. I kinda find it funny that while in Haas, everyone is giving him credit for what he's doing right now, but for some reason it never goes beyond that at all.

Iā€™ve never barracked for Lewis and Toto but by god I have so much respect for them as a duo. The way that Toto finds little ways to show care and support for Hamilton and the way that Lewis will always respect Totoā€™s authority is a harmony between intense egos rarely seen in this sport. Itā€™s no wonder theyā€™ve been so successful together, hereā€™s to them working well together long into the future šŸ„‚

Not to mention that signing Albon frees up the Williams seat they want for Schumacher, it works all round
  • @selder_7
Part of me wants them to put their money where their mouth is and give Schumacher a shot, but realistically he should have to prove himself further down the field (though at an actual F1 team this time)

Albon makes sense for me. He gets on well with George, i think he would be happy to be a second driver (Iā€™m not 100% sure though) and he is a good driver.

I mean, it is high time Esteban gets a chance in big league. His colleagues around his age have/had gone up the step, and he has done whatever he can do in a midfield. I think he is the only kinda young driver still needs a shot at top cars. He is talented, he has proven his worth, he is rapid, his tyre saving, defensive, qualy and overtaking skills are really crisp. He just needs the one shot tbh.

My opinion would be that Albon is most likely. They would want to invest in a young driver (slightly experienced) than a Hulk or Kmag or Carlos or someone like that. Pushing aside the Albon Ferrari rumours, he does his job well. I feel he is kind of overhyped because many fans have an image of Williams barely slogging on due to their recent disastrous years but this year, they genuinely have a midfield car that can easily be P9, P10 on tracks that just have straights like Bahrain or Australia with the new layout or spa except for the middle sector. The car is a genuine contender, but a driver with RB, Torro Rosso experience will definitely perform better than a rookie and that is sometimes overhyping Albon. I still think he is probably the best bet currently, because when needed, he does his job. It's not otherworldly or super spectacular, but just a silent warrior doing what's necessary. Norris seems committed to McLaren and if not McLaren, then probably RB. Zak himself is paying a lot to Norris to stay because he is a brilliant driver who if given a quick car, can bring podiums and if given the fastest car, could probably win if he could cope with the pressure. Vesti and Mick I feel are way too inexperienced to be put in a top Merc seat, they should be kept in a Williams first to try out the life in F1 since it's not easy by any means.

I think Schumacher's stock has risen more with him off the grid than on it. He got beaten by a returning Magnussen who's being beaten by a returning Hulkenberg this year...
  • @flynn_rocky618
Lewis is still the best driver option for merc he is one of the Top 3 in the Sport right now!
  • @basant64hangal
George was really impressive in junior categories and the Williams, but he's been quite a way off Lewis this year, so Mercedes have some high standards.

Tommo brightening the day once again. Thanks for another banger to bridge the summer breakšŸŽ‰

One name's missing here for me! What about Oscar? Most likely for me is either Leclerc or Albon though.
  • @macan94126
I know that Albon going to Williams would free up the seat for Mick, but I feel like almost all of Williams' progress right now is sitting with Alex. If you put Mick in that seat next to Logan, you canā€™t say if one of them is the defined team leader. Alex, at least to me, is the face of Williams right now, and it seems like him moving would stall of the amazing progress they made this year
  • @MrReese
I would actually love to see HĆ¼lkenberg at Merc if Lewis really decides that it's time. Gotta get that first podium and maybe race win somehow, right! And a German driver at Mercedes, come on, that is always a possibility.
  • @aprovaal1009
if lewis does get shares in mercedes than it would cool to see him maybe return as a team principal when he retires
  • @GameHive94
I think Esteban Ocon is Merc's best option. I think he will be tired of Alpine and he was a reserve driver for Merc in 2019.

Loved the music choice on this vid! Felt much more pacey than your others because of it. Plus... I'm always a sucker for some jazzy vibes. Great stuff man!
