I embarked on the journey to turn our abandoned land into a green haven, building my own home, living off grid and becoming self-sufficient in terms of food and energy. The goal for these first years was to create a place more in balance with planet earth, to grow my own food and life a more self sufficient life 💛🌱🌸

Love your programme and your enthusiasm. First, I'm from South Africa where the Proteas come from. They will die at the slightest disturbance of the soil around the roots which are very shallow. Not even weeding should be done around them. Your ground wasn't the problem I think, it could be that you perhaps weeded around them or even pulled some vegetables around them which could have caused them to die. Second, as far as saving your seeds goes. Seeds can be stored for up to twenty years if the conditions are right. They need super cold, they need dark and no moisture. In order to achieve this, I bought a small chest freezer and I bought bottles with spring clips. Very large ones for different vegetables as well as flowers. I've been doing this now for almost eight years with great success. Now when taking them from the freezer, let them stand outside the freezer to get rid of any condensation on the bottles BEFORE YOU CAN OPEN THEM otherwise you'll be drawing some of the moisture into the seeds. I presently have a very large seed bank and also sell some of the seed to people interested. Hope. this helps

You planted your seeds on April 25th, the Portuguese day celebrating freedom, our carnation revolution 😍 the analogy of planting a future that flourishes 🙏❤🌱

Seeds can last up to ten years! Don’t take notice of the sell-by date. The germination rate goes down a bit each year, but most are still viable to sow 😊👌🏼🌱
  • My absolute favourite vlog to watch for calm, persistence, encouragement, and achievement. All presented with and in a victim-free psychology and zone. Thank you. 🌸
  • I look forward to your videos, and am so happy to view them. They teach calm, exercise, gardening, etc. They are also beautifully filmed.😊
  • I’ve planted a massive garden out of my whole yard! Your videos have inspired me so much! Happy spring planting 🌹☘️🌱🪴
  • Brilliant idea with the humidity packets! I save them compulsively in case I might need them for something, but didn’t think to use them for that reason ~ perfect!
  • Glad you like the Protea. It is our National Flower here in South Africa. It is part of the Fynbos(pronounced fain-bos) group, only found in South Africa.
  • I'm wondering if you might be able to make a video about how to store your garden extras without them going bad? PS: I absolutely adore your videos as well as MHC.
  • Tulsi/Holy Basil is easy to grow. And you will get plenty of seeds when it matures. Love all that you are doing. Cant wait to see all the updates in coming season!

Sellerie and tomatoes protect each other, also carrots and onion. So take this in consideration when planting this vegetables 😊

you two are such an inspiration. i have watched many of your videos, so i am a bit familiar with the story you have shared, steps you have taken.. and it is so inspiring to see it. I dream one day i would have the strength, willpower, resources and help to be able to also live in the embrace of nature like that. you both seem to be so resourcefull and disciplined.. and work hard. so, thank you for the inspiration. i know it is not only flowers and amazing moments all the time. so.. congrats for endurance.. and as it looks, for sure it is also a gift that keeps on giving.
