Lyrics:

Got so much salt from your lies poured into me
You didn't see yourself dead already
So full of with every breath that you breathe
But you forgot that in your fairy tale I'm the wolf
All this attention got you thinking that you're a queen
You think that everything you're doing isn't a dream, long as it feel alright.

I had gotten frozen by the way that you walked,
by the love that you gave, by that look on your face
It's a coverup
I know everything
[x2]

You're made for four letter fame
Regret is part of your name
There's something you couldn't tell
It's what you wanted to feel
It's what you're dying to feel

Check out your face on the wall
Like what you see?
I'm sure you see yourself oh so unique
You're just a sucker for the flame of the week
But you forget that in your fairy tale bitch I'm the wolf
All this attention got you thinking you we're a queen
You thought that everything in life you want should be free
Nothing is what you think

I had gotten frozen by the way that you walked,
by the love that you gave, by that look on your face
It's a coverup
I know everything
[x2]

You're made for four letter fame
Regret is part of your name
There's something you couldn't tell
It's what you wanted to feel
It's what you're dying to feel

This is one of my favorite songs by them. Mostly because I can play it and people dont slowly back away lol.
  • Puciato had two fathers. One was Adam Sandler and the other was Mike Patton.
  • I didn't know that that a single song could sum up Dillinger. They're extremely versatile, and this song is basically a patton-era faith no more tribute(which is siiick).
  • But you forget that in your fairytale, bitch, I'm the wolf.... Damn, I love these lyrics... lol

guess i can understand why dillinger fans complain about this song because its so different to their other stuff, but it really shows off their talents. This has become one of my fav songs of all time.
  • I like the fact they can play something like this, 43% burnt, Mouth of Ghost, and When I Lost My Bet. All different, crazy songs in different levels of technical structure and musical approach. It doesn't get much better than TDEP.

If you are a Jazz musician, you really should listen to this album from Dillinger Escape Plan (and perhaps others from them), it's very good actually. Some of these musicians were jazz musicians too. And if you listen to it carefully you will find a lot of jazzy details in them songs. Hope you enjoy it :)

The thing is that while they can create a song like this they can still produce bone shattering mathcore better than anyone else out there. They aren't losing their edge, they are just swinging a longer blade.
  • Sounds like Faith No More on more drugs than usual. I can dig this.

DEP is just genius. The fact that they can do something like this, 43% Burnt and Farewell Mona Lisa and sound great on all of it is just amazing. This is one of most totally original sounding "singles" I've ever heard in my life. Wow.
  • I seen them live once in a tiny club supporting mastodon with red fang, I was a dumb teenager then. Now I know I probably won't ever be able to see them again I feel like a spud.
  • Greg Puciato has the best vocals in metal. One of the greatest male vocalists in all music in my opinion. His range is insane. Huge variety of vocal techniques. Excellent dynamics. I don’t feel like he gets the recognition due because many never listened to Dillinger. He’s sought after by many producers and musicians. His performance on Jerry Cantrell’s last record was beautiful. Imaginary Fire- Carpenter Brut was a showcase of this man’s vocal talent. I absolutely love listening to this guy sing. I’m not usually in to vocals. It’s not that I don’t like them, it’s just that the instrumental arrangements of most songs are what catch my attention.
  • Bumpin' this masterpiece in 2019. Long live TDEP!
  • Saw them lastnight with Deftones at Sound Academy, they rocked the shit out of that place, music sounded alot heavier it was awesome!!! Chino from deftones and the lead singer of dillinger did Passenger together!!! Freakin awesome!!
  • Mike Patton did an EP with them when they were between singers, and he really influenced the way they write. You can hear FNM, Peeping Tom, Mr Bungle, and especially Fantomas influences all over Ire Works and Miss Machine
  • "The Shape of Punk To Come" was ahead of its time and is still one of the most underrated albums of all time, I don't care if anyone says differently. Point being, Both Refused and DEP are amazing yet they're underrated bands, sadly.
