Skullgirls: 2nd Encore taught me how to not suck (as much) at fighting games. and is a great entry point to the genre for beginners!

(Seriously, it goes on sale every 5 minutes, it is so worth it)

**** Small update: I assumed Ms Fortune's head hitbox changed once she was headless, but a few more knowledgeable people have informed me that it was different on their console versions. I checked the "Endless Beta" too see the most out of date version:

Also it turns out that the Valentine's hitbox is actually smaller than expected: i.imgur.com/kNqVMFn.png
It was my mistake and I had no intent on spreading misinformation; I am still grateful that people who have noticed this have enjoyed the video regardless. At least it was cinematic!***

That feel when you think you're good enough and then you go online only to find out you were totally wrong.
  • UMVC3 is like: -take a hit -drop the controller -make a toast -eat the toast -grab your controller -watch the last hit of the combo -try harder with the next character
  • "I'm just trying to play the game, not hack the pentagon." That is one of the best lines I've every heard! I'm gonna use it whenever a game is unnecessarily difficult for no reason.
  • - Beats game in Ridiculous Mode for the first time."Okay, I only lost about once, so I think I should do fairly okay with my skill."-Goes online-Plays one match-Doesn't go online-Cries
  • "I'm bad at fighting games." You can win in competitive play. I can't get through the tutorial.

Now all this game needs is a big enough player base for me to play online. This game really deserves more recognition tbh.

Skullgirls is like Chess or Rubik's Cube solving. A lot of people like to watch the top-level players do it, but almost no one wants to put in the time to be those top level players.
  • Me and a friend get a couple of games of Skullgirls in every week. It always makes for a good time.
  • The irony is i bonded with a friend over fighting games. He liked blazblue and i liked skullgirls. I showed him why and now he rarely plays blazblue
  • During the coin era, arcade games literally cheated. There's a video about it, clean hits from the player are ignored, the CPU character is hitting you even when you've blocked, etc.
  • Whilst I've not given this as much time as I had planned, the level of depth openly accessible to us is so nice to see. Filia and Peacock were my two main fighters before I slowed down playing it. And if you wanna talk hard end-bosses, Jinpachi in Tekken 5. Difficult but in the cheap, disgusting and fucking unfair way.

  • They all have unique moves and unique designs Fukua and Robo Fortune sweat furiously
  • Skullgirls! The best fighting game I ever played.  Great editing, by the way. Kept a great pace of informative and entertaining.
