Currently, West is a third party candidate in the 2024 presidential election. After declaring his run with the People's Party in June 2023, he shortly soon after switched to the Green Party. In October 2023, he announced he was again switching his affiliation, and is running as an independent candidate.

I'm astonished his house is only in the 200K range in Princeton New Jersey. What is the housing market like there? It's hard to get a barn for that price these days.

He's broke because he's an academic, not a politician or businessperson. I'm not saying that's good or bad, but it's self-evident. It's like asking why marathon runners aren't jacked like bodybuilders - because their exercise and diet don't lead to getting jacked. Cornel West doesn't live a lifestyle that allows for accumulation of much financial wealth.
