I pray for Mr. Ballen's children when they ask him for a bedtime story
  • @Vincentiuz
The realization and fear of Alan being locked into an oven without any way of escaping must’ve been one of the most heartbreaking and gruesome ways to die.
  • @RumbleDelta
The first story had me openly sobbing. Just the thought of what this poor man must have thought and felt, knowing he was going to die, and nobody knew he was in there and he’d never see his family again… it’s just not worth trying to imagine.
  • @MudkipZombies
The story of Alan is horrifying. I've worked in a factory that does large scale manufacturing of circuit boards for various applications and we used big furnaces to slow cool hundreds of parts at a time and even in that situation the systems had monitoring systems inside the rooms including weight distribution failsafe's so if anything became unstable and fell the machine would just turn off. It was sensitive enough that a person walking across the floor after the operation had started would have stopped the process. This is why failsafe implementation is obscenly important, even though the furnaces would only reach about 200 degrees in my situation that would still be enough to kill a person and it had precautions, yet a massive 600 degree furnace had none? He should have been charged with far more then he was.

I used to be a chef. All the walk-in fridges and freezers we used had interior safety buttons to open the door. Why a moulding furnace could be passed as fit for use without one is beyond me.

As a Filipino, I think the third story is a case of an Urban Legend manifesting itself into reality. The first two incidents (which I heard started off as just men arguing over who sang it better) may just be purely seperate coincidences but as people continue to spread the rumors "don't sing that song because you'll die", people who were either aware or unaware of it still continue to sing it because it's such a popular song and karaoke (just like what Mr. Ballen said) is a huge part of our culture. However, the reality is these karaoke bars (beer house) are mostly frequented by people who are down on their luck, who resort to alcohol and prostitution to forget their problems, and we all know such people when mixed with alcohol and hubris, can definitely turn violent when given the slightest of reasons. Thus, those who dared to sing the song inspite of its growing infamy are then tempting the devil and, unfortunately, some get their chance encounter with him via these intoxicated people inside karaoke bars who've most likely heard the stories behind this song and just kill the singer either during or after singing the song. This is why noone dares to sing this song in the PH anymore, even the good ones don't dare touch it because we know we might be unfortunate enough to be in close proximity with a crazy person who'd pull the trigger just for the sake of keeping the urban legend alive.

My fiance was there working at the kayak factory the day this happened. It was beyond devastating for the whole family. I couldn't believe it as soon as MrBallen said Alan Catterall, we only live in a little town in the northwest and even alot of people here probably wouldn't know about it so my mind was blown when MrBallen was recounting the story.
  • @Mulongski09
As a filipino, i can say that the reason for murder while singing "my way" is the fact that everyone wants to sing it in karaoke and not everyone has the chance, and when you sing it there's people will try to sing it too with a better voice and better pitch which leads to confrontation due to bragging.
  • @angelmoore2453
That first story is just too horrific, being cooked alive has got to be one of if not the worst ways to go . I'm so sorry for his family.
  • @brendatomlinson
Alan’s demise in the oven is one of the worst Mr Ballen stories I’ve heard yet. Not only was it a gruesome death, it was entirely avoidable by implementing the most basic safety precautions. And poor Mark having to live with that mistake the rest of his life. Yeah, this one hurt my heart.
  • @extreme-cm8hb
Mariesa's upside down position reminds me of two young brothers, I think in their 20s, who went out caving. One brother thought he was going down the Birth Canal, but he wasn't. He got stuck, called out for his brother. The brother couldn't get him loose, so he called for help. The stuck brother hung upside down in that part of the cave for almost two days while the rescuers tried getting him out, to no avail. He died right there, and nobody was ever able to get him out. They shut that cave down, and his remains are still in there. I can't even begin to fathom that type of horrible pain and the fear it must have produced, for that young man or for Mariesa.
  • @dalegribble420
man there's been so many stories on this channel and in this series in particular about people being cooked or boiled alive, and i don't think it'll ever stop making me feel sick in a way most stories on the channel don't. such an unimaginably gruesome way to go.
  • @NosniboRR95
The karaoke story is crazy, I’m Filipino but born in the states. When I used to get on the magic mic at family parties “my way” was one of my favorite songs to sing. My grandpa used to tease me to be careful singing it or I’d get shot. I always thought he was joking, 20 years later I can’t believe this is the first time I’m hearing of these stories. Thank God I only sang this song in the US bc I’m terrible at singing lol
  • @Emzibubble87
I’m actually horrified by the second story. A body there for that long would stink… the house must have been in a horrendous state not to notice the smell
  • @miiannyo
i'm happy that you have a story about the Philippines! i'm from the Philippines and when you mentioned the karaoke, i immediately thought of "My Way". it's true that there are multiple murder cases related to that song, it's weird.
  • @spinna6996
The first story is really sad, but it also shows a very strong reminder of just how important it is for companies as well as it's workers to follow proper lock out/tag out protocols when working on or in any kind of machinery, and why ANY worker who works on a machine must sign onto a lockout tag, and then sign off once they are finished! I really feel for his son in law, what a shitty thing to have hang over his head forever.
  • @Tanya49655
The hoarding story is a prime example of what the hoarder shows mean by a hazard risk
  • @mamakat114
The minute you said Alan's future son-in-law went to the control room, I cried. It was already horrific enough, but that made it even more heartbreaking
  • @millercreek79
Fun fact: The band Journey found a replacement singer for Steve Perry when they were sent online video of a man from the Philippines singing Journey songs at karaoke bars. The man's name is Arnel Pineda and he has an unbelievable voice!
  • @eternallove4248
Congrats on the 8M Mr Ballen! So glad to see the 3 story format again. It’s what got me addicted to your videos. For the 3rd story, as a Filipino the moment the karaoke was mentioned I immediately knew what song was going to be sung lol
