What I love about them is how they smoothly and gracefully glide through the ocean.

I love stingrays because they're such odd looking animals they're like blankets that flap along the sea floor.

I got to pet stingrays in Sea World at the Gold Coast in Australia. They remind me of cats... Thoroughly enjoyed being petted !! Kept coming back for more and practically BEGGING to be petted. Such sweet creatures. I have a cat tattoo, and I'm thinking of getting a stingray tattoo!! Sweet animals who only really want affection. You can feed them as well and they are gentle. I definitely love them now. I was scared at first when they had an area for everyone to pet them, but they are adorable.

I got stung last week at Clearwater beach, and the pain from these wretched creatures is unbelievable, if it wasn't for the lifeguard's advice I would have thought I was going to die, hot hot water in a bucket or heat pad is the best remedy to breakdown the protein in the venom, the pain kicked in about 45 minutes after I was in the car trying to get home, I held through till the pain was gone after 3 hours and was so fatigued afterwards, I have utmost respect for wildlife now, lol

Stingrays are definitely one of the most misunderstood animals out there. One thing to note is that the sting is not used for attacks it is used as a form of self defence. As long as you don’t hurt them they won’t hurt you. They also have an important role in the ocean which is cleaning up.

You're right, stingrays are very gentle animals. They enjoy humans petting them on the surface and being fed from us. But just don't touch the tail, it scares them.

I've done that before and it's so much fun! If you ever go to the Cayman Islands definitely try it out
