Anyone else here on the whales' side 🙋‍♀️ We're ruining their home, trapping and killing them in nets, hitting them with boats and motors. Of course they're pissed.
  • This behavior was virtually unheard of until this last decade. They're very intelligent animals, and normally gentle creatures with humans, so you do have to wonder what provoked this dramatic change.

I’m surprised it’s taken this long for nature to strike back

Terrifying animal. They’re intelligent, emotionally driven, can work effectively as a team of usually 15 individuals, has built in sonars and are very athletic in their element. They can weigh 10 tons and still jump 15 feet out of the water. Even sharks and whales are afraid of them. With that weight, speed and strength if they decide to gang up on a ship it won’t take much to destroy one.

The problem could also be over-fishing , the Orca could be associating the loss of food with boats .

It's amazing and scary how smart the Orca is. The most part harmless? They are an apex predator for a reason. Odds are they are fighting back and trying to tell people to go away. It also looks like in the earlier part, the whales were testing/looking for weaknesses on the boats.

The orcas all had headphones and were listening to We're Not Gonna Take It by Twisted Sister 😂

Love to see it….. I’m amazed it took this long for them to do this. They’re extremely intelligent and develop different cultural identities from other pods. This pod is looking like it’s found a new thing to add to their culture.
  • Being a sailor , I believe that the movement of the rudder is producing a sound that is very disturbing to the Orcas. I hope this message is seen by marine biologists and check out this possibility. All sail boats that have been sunk have had their rudders destroyed. Guillermo R. Arrazola Florida, USA

Remember, Orcas are some of the world's most intelligent animals...They know every boat may out to take thier food , pollute the water, snag one of the pack in thier nets, etc...I just think they're saying,"Stay outta our turf..you're a threat to us"

Respect to the whales. Humans have been getting away with too much for too long this is a sign of the times.
  • I love that Mother Nature is fighting back... most often our need to be on the water is recreational or for profit purposes, and we should be excited to see that the vessels that cause a lot of issues for the water's ecosystem are being checked. Sucks for the lively hoods or property being damaged, for sure, but hopefully this will bring some balance to the waters.

Man always questions these behaviors and never considers we've pushed them into a corner! Even man's best friend will bite when cornered and abused

We’ve known for some time now that these beautiful creatures possess intelligence which means memory and emotions. I don’t blame them one bit however if these boat owners are not guilty of any ill behaviour then I do feel for them. But the fact remains, nature is sending us a strong message. They’ve been hurt and they are learning.

It seems like nature is finally taking a swing back at us. We deserve it.
  • @j3nnahr0s3
This is heartbreaking and shows the lasting effects humans have on these beautiful whales. 😢❤. Hopefully we can use this as a motivator to be better and change the way they're treated by humans ❤
  • @82alor
Honestly who can blame them ?
  • Truly shows the intelligence of these Orcas. One Cow Orca was apparently hit by a boat and injured. This it seemed enraged the Pod and they sought their revenge on boats that crossed their paths. Truly shows the intelligence of Orcas. 💪🏻🙏🏻✨
  • I'm wondering whether sound waves, electronic frequencies, and perhaps also the use of batteries could possibly contribute to the behavior. Considering the drive for "cleaner" energy and technology in the past decade. I'm no expert but some or most sail boats are also fitted fitted with devices that cause vibration on the hull to prevent sealife from clinging on.

up Rivers' Inlet in BC the mother Orca cruised by and I had to look UP at her back. My salmon boat was shorter than her baby! Experience of a lifetime.
