I love all the baby (and birdie) sounds!!! ❤
  • @amandab.6815
I don't like Beatrix Potter either! I thought I was the only one lol. I was cringing every time my daughter wanted to read them as a preschooler, so I quietly donated them 😉
  • @PenniesAndSalt
I love that you are sharing books that aren't chapter books, I still have littles and I'm always on the search for good picture books!
  • @DebBeePlus3
Thanks for doing this again! Your recommendation of The Lighthouse Family book series last year was the hit for our summer and the beginning of one of my sons actually beginning to sit and focus for read aloud time.

I must not be on IG enough because this is my first time seeing Slow Down. I ordered it right away. 😄
  • @amy8071
Any time my library didn't have a book on the Gentle+Classical list, I put in a request for them to buy it. I smile every time I see Rattletrap Car on the shelves there now (and bought my own copy as well!)
  • Ahh Rachel!! But have you tried reading Peter Rabbit in a British accent?!?! 😂😂😂 You must try it in a British accent, it really gives it something extra. Don't knock it 'till ya try it! 😂😂
  • @PlainJane144
Similar to your Peter Rabbit feelings, I am not loving Uncle Wiggilys StoryBook scheduled in Sonlight's Pre-K curriculum. However, it has been the perfect remedy to put both my self and my daughter to sleep each night without fail! Bonus 😂
  • Always love read aloud videos! I don’t really love Beatrix Potter either, but my mom loves them and collected them when I was little. 😊 Our favorite read aloud this year was The Great Turkey Walk. ❤
  • @gbcflower
We've had several books we have really enjoyed this year. I've paired our read-alouds to match what we were learning about in history. The first book we read out loud was Noah's Ark and the Mount Ararat Adventure by John Morris. This book really captured my kids imagination.
  • @lynetter6850
You know, I realized I don't enjoy reading AA Milne. My boys love it though, so we listen to an audio book version.
  • My younger kids are girls but wen my boys where younger we read a lot of car and plane books!!! We don’t like Shakespeare but I’ve tired to teach it to my older kids!!! We just studied polar animals and my kids kept saying why do we have to study cold places? I didn’t kno how tropical they are!!! I’m glad we taught it!!! We love pilgrims progress!!!
  • So many beautiful picture books! I just added Coolies to my library holds. :)
  • We read Wild Robot last year, so we read the 2nd one this year and I just find it boring. I was fine with the first, but I dread story time. I'm looking forward to whatever we choose to read next!
  • We love The Circus Ship it’s a favorite in our house. I dislike most Dr Seuss books.
  • @lisaroper421
Man, all these people who don't go for Beatrix Potter. How funny, because I adore her! 😅 To each their own. And, certainly some of her stories are more my jam than others. But the illustrations are all so charming.

When me daughter was 5 or maybe 6, I had her read aloud The Tailor of Gloucester by Beatrix Potter. We encountered word after unfamiliar word that had to be looked up (mainly clothing and dressmaking terminology from a bygone era). I finally asked Google what grade level it was. I seem to recall it was 7th or 8th grade!
