Even far from the front lines, distant battles can still be heard, typified by the sounds of lasfire, heavy ordnance, and the roars of inhuman monsters.

  • "Commander, status report." "The siege is going as planned sir. With our continuous bombardment, their defences should fall within 3 months." "But we've been here a month already." "Yes sir, we're right on schedule."

"Out of ammunition. Will fight to the end. Glory to the Emperor." - Last transmission of the 23rd Elysian Drop Troops regiment.
  • In his diary of WW1, German soldier Ernst Junger describes sleeping in a shelter during an artillery shelling, and compares it to sleeping in a ship during a thunderstorm. He found it quite relaxing.

Kriegers would hate the "distant" part of this.

Please be careful, this video is somehow bugged and corrupts Firefox: After stopping it, the sounds just keep playing. I live in Syria, so maybe its a region lock issue?

Guardsman: Is-is that kriegsman asleep? poking kriegsman Kriegsman: oh sorry, I remembered a lullaby in all this calmness. Guardsman: it’s been a constant bombardment for 4 days!? Kriegsman: ahh… nostalgic childhood days…

Listening to this, means that there is someone out there fighting. It means you can rest easy, knowing that the line is held. It means the enemy won't come creeping up to you in your sleep, eager to take your life. This, this is the sound of peace.
  • I slept like a guardsmen who retreated in the direction of his commissar

Kriegsmen! None of you fears death, but the enemy does. None of you cowers in the face of danger, but the enemy does. None of you would retreat or fall into despair, but the enemy does. They lost this war before they came to our world! Now it is up to you to finish it!

Honestly, it's more relaxing than the majority of these ASMR videos with brushes and WET sounds. 10/10- Would go to Vraks again.

The Codex Astartes FULLY supports this action

Obviously hearing this in real life would be the worst nightmare. But hearing this as sounds of a fictional war in 40k, imagining legions of soldiers, armor, titans, all crushing and purging heretics and xenos is bloody amazing.
