I don't know if Mrs. Gneiting will even see the comment section, but nonetheless, I want to let her know... My daughter had her last year for math. Before we knew who the teacher even was that got the shooter & the gun. My daughter said, "I bet it was Mrs. Gneiting who did it! She just has this attitude & personality that I bet it was her!" I was shocked to find out it was really her that saved the day in so many ways! Your students past & present love you, Mrs. Gneiting. My family thanks you for your selfless act of kindness that truly saved lives! I'm grateful my daughter had you as a teacher!

She should be the teacher of the year. If everyone can learn to be more like this teacher... This world would be a better place.
  • This teacher is a genuinely kind person. She was able to help everyone in that situation including the shooter. Amazing person.

I think a woman like her is just what the girl needed. Kids need love, hugs and appreciation from adults. There should be more adults like that teacher. I don‘t know her. But I already love her.

Listen how she talks about the little girl. She knows that kid was neglected, and that she'sstill a child. It's sad that this had to happen. She has a gift for helping The youth. I hope she stays in her field of work.

That woman not only saved the school, but saved that child. She prevented the little girls life and many others from being ruined that day, and now she has a chance to pull her life together. What an amazing woman 👏

Teachers not only raising kids in class but saving them too. So sad that they still are the most underpaid profession.

Job interviewer: Tell us about a time you de-escalated a situation Teacher: I took a gun away from a child during a school shooting and hugged her as I dialed the police.

She needs to be celebrated as a hero she deserves more then a 3 minute news segment. Her and that football coach that did the same thing need to be put in charge of training other teachers in compassion.

I don't think this situation could have been handled in any better way: this teacher acted PERFECTLY, before she had the gun and after she got it.
  • This is a prime example of why mental healthcare is SO important. JUST as much as physical healthcare. I hope everyone is okay, and they got her help. These kids and families are going to need some Help getting over such a big trauma.

The fact that I didn’t hear about this shooting, speaks volumes to how desensitized we are as a nation. This is heartbreaking

What an amazing person/woman/teacher. Everything she said was exactly on point. She understood, she disarmed because she was able to (not everyone is able to), she helped and saved so many lives.
  • When a little kid in 6th grade does something like this, you know there is something wrong with our world and this system. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. WAKE UP AMERICA. Amazing teacher that acted with love and kindness, which is exactly what this world lacks. Love.

There is a VERY SERIOUS mental health problem in this country. It breaks my soul to know that there are kids out there hurting so badly.

What I find interesting is the teacher was calm and felt love and concern for the child. I think a lot less police shootings would occur if they were like this teacher.
  • "This little girl, has a mom somewhere, who doesn't realize she's having a breakdown..." My mama heart hurts for her. She may have loving parents who just missed the signs or garbage parents that couldn't be bothered. Either way, the loneliness and desperation she must have been feeling is a kind of living hell most people would not be able to fathom.

Her calm manner of speaking, if that's the way somebody approached me talking like that when I was having a breakdown, it would immediately soothe me.
