How to Stand For Life In a Culture of Death, with Scott Klusendorf

Published 2024-01-28
In light of the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, too many Christians do not understand the essential truths of the pro-life position, making it difficult for them to articulate a biblical worldview on issues like abortion, cloning, and embryo research. On today’s podcast, Scott Klusendorf helps us understand the intellectual grounding for the pro-life convictions that most evangelicals hold. The debate turns on one key question: What is the unborn? Scott articulates what the role of the pro-life Christian should be and how to lovingly and winsomely engage in questions and objections.

I greatly appreciate Alisa and Scott for this podcast and for teaching us how to defend the pro-life position! I will be ordering Scott's book and look forward to becoming better equipped to defend the unborn.
  • @TheGuy..
I'm ordering the book tonight. I didn't know about the 1st book. Thanks for bringing Scott K. to your channel.
  • @duke927
They don’t argue the life or on life of the embryo. They just say it’s a right. And that is supposed to shut down the argument.

I highly recommend Scott's book The Case For Life, and he has an excellent series of lectures on the Ethics at the Edge of Life Playlist with Scott Rae, on the Biola U Channel.

Never heard about this book but just ordered the second edition. Loved this discussion today. May God continue to bless you both!

Love the vid, love the content! Love the new intro/break sound bytes, PLZ lower the volume though 😅 it's startling and much louder than your speaking ❤ keep up the wonderful work Alisa thank you!

The very small church I attend claims to be pro-life but my pastor of over 3 yrs has never given a pro-life message. I encouraged him back in September to give a pro-life message in January (sanctity of life month) and it did not happen. I am super disappointed and considering leaving to find a church and pastor who will stand strong for the unborn.

My question is … how can the word ‘progressive’ and the idea that it conveys be used with Christian?
  • @bethtaylor9773
If body/self humanism is true, then someone who is more aware like someone with a high IQ has a greater right to life than someone who is intellectually disabled. That's leading to a dark place.
  • @lovelypandamom
I showed a friend the sonogram of my baby waving his hand at 10 weeks. She said, "I didn't know they looked so human!!" Yes, at 8 and 10 weeks of pregnancy the human looks... human 😅 I was surprised she didn't know, glad she now knows, and hopeful that she will remember this.

This was a great conversation. It really pressed the issue that abortion is murder and seems to be an argument for the abolition of abortion. Did I hear that correctly? It seems like most pro-life Christians are not for abolishing abortion?
  • @carriestout6422
I chatted with pro choice women online and some of them said they would be proud to abort at the ninth month. I was so stunned by the inhumanity of the statement that it struck me silent. I thought what's the point in trying to help them? This woman saw no problem killing a baby who could now live outside the womb. Could someone give me advice on what to say?

It is not uncommon for fertilized eggs to not implant and pass out of the body during monthly bleeding. So should we mourn during each period in case a child has died and we were unaware?
  • @hannahkroon5233
I don't see the aim as winning the argument as much as doing some gardening...
  • @karigross
The football player example doesn’t follow. But outstanding discussion!
  • @aswitmer
I would like to see you give some light to the Abolitionist side, to be fair. This man has opposed those of us calling for Abolition for years.
