In this video, I talk you through writing a first-class dissertation/thesis in mathematics and physics. Although this video is specific to mathematics/astrophysics/physics, the points I've made will hopefully be useful to other degrees as well! For context, I obtained 91% in my undergraduate dissertation and 87% in my Master's thesis. If you have any questions, feel free to comment below🌞

  • My thesis advisor recommended his method for keeping track of his references and it worked amazing for me. He would create a spreadsheet where he has columns for the article title, authors, abstract, notes/takeaways/summary written in your own words, citation of this paper. It was really helpful to keep track of my data and references and made looking up things much faster, so I highly recommend this technique

thank you so much for this! just wanted to let you know you are so pretty and your hair looks absolutely gorgeous!! im starting my disso in a mathematical finance topic soon and i am super confused already but this has helped a bunch! thank you!!!
  • Currently writing my BSc Mathematics dissertation and this has been SO helpful - thank you so much. I am also off to Cambridge for my MPhil in Population Health Sciences (Health Data Science) so hearing tips specifically for master's has been fantastic also :)

Thank you, great information, good to know💜😊👍✌️
  • Hey Ellie. Wondered if u had any advice for people from non Oxbridge backgrounds at under grad. Currently in my third year at Warwick maths, and have offers from Oxford and Cambridge, but didn’t think I would ever get into either. Is there anything you recommend to help with the “imposter syndrome” effect?
  • Do you recommend any tool for keeping a file on literature we read? I currently use notion pages to write small descriptions for each paper
  • You would have surely studied John von Neumann's work on hydrodynamics.
  • Yeah! It would be great if you could share the source code :)
  • Hey, Love from India 🇮🇳 Can you guide please, what's the whole routine in a day of math phd student, Are they busy or enjoy their life
