"I grew up hearing over and over that "hard work" was the secret of success. "Work hard and you'll get ahead." No one ever said that you could work hard - harder than you ever thought possible - and still find yourself sinking ever deeper into poverty and debt." - Barbara Ehrenreich (American writer and author).

UBI brings ppl piece of mind. No matter what happens with your job, life etc there is at least that cushion there for you.
  • @austinm419
UBI doesn’t solve the meaning crisis on its own. It creates the conditions for people to solve it themselves.
  • @lamdao1242
UBI cannot give anyone meaning in life. But UBI CAN FACILITATE People finding meaning in life.
  • @AGRACUTA
Corona seems to be accelrating all of this now.
  • Hi Dagogo, and people who uploaded ColdFusion, I'd been retired from a 37 years of career it was the greatest free feeling I ever encountered in my life existence, I do come with a big curious within me love watching videos on YouTube and the cold Fusion hit home for me the great topics cover just so fulfilling and I feel like I always learn something new watch Cold Fusion videos so thank you Dagogo, and the people who help you put these videos together. I am in the Baby Boomer age group of people being and 8th grade drop out I got a low paying job but by God's grace got a higher paying job after going to night school and it help me move to a great retirement lifestyle. All most people really desire is contentment feel good and find interesting things to do. A purpose can be anything.
  • @amanieux
about the danger of life without purpose after a few years on UBI. do we have purpose today ? or are we simply too busy to notice we don't have a purpose in life ?
  • @rpslobo
Andrew Yang actually makes a lot of sense, not only on this policy point but on many others, especially his ideas to fix government corurption and of a "human-centered capitalism". Like him or not, he really is ahead of this time and can clearly see the real problems and provide solutions to them.
  • @winterking2510
I haven't worked in a few years now and not once was I bored. My sense of purpose has always come from within and I know I'm not the only one wired like this. I say bring on UBI so that more people can find their passion. It's time for humanity to evolve to the next level
  • We are so Brainwashed that some of us think our value as humans are attached to our shitjobs and that UBI and AI Automatizations are a bad idea. No, UBI will not make us lazy, simply because laziness is not in our nature. If we get rid of all the shitjobs we will finally have the time and energy to be better humans. Better parents. Better citizens. Create art. Coming up with new ideas about life(the biggest philosophers in the history of mankind were people that didn't have a job and had all the time to think). I am so looking forward to such a time.
  • @adrianharris579
I don't find the "what about meaning and purpose" argument very persuasive. Most of the "jobs" out there are not providing meaning and purpose...they are a means to an end. I know many people including people where I work that just show up for a paycheck, they could care less about the actual job and they find meaning and purpose outside of work. If flipping burgers and mopping floors, etc. is the best we can do at providing opportunities for activity that truly does provide meaning and purpose, than that is just sad and we are not using our imaginations. I find this argument really only coming from those with college degrees and actual careers where they do find meaning and purpose in what they do, and they seem to want to project that onto the masses. But that is not the majority of people. We can do better.
  • @tobifoong8025
Helping people find meaning in UBI, will be a big industry !
  • @PaulADAigle
With the latest advancements in AI & robotics, UBI needs to be even more of a discussion. At some point in the near future, we will NEED UBI or people will suffer drastically. The excessive number of homeless people is an early indication that our economy isn't sustainable as it is.
  • I would be less stressed and more motivated if I had a guaranteed income. Welfare is a joke. It keeps people from getting jobs because you just lose your benefits for slightly more money working a dead-end job for 12 hours a day. This needs to change. Let us hope Andrew Yang keeps speaking. He's a wonderful, hopeful voice.
  • @juanka96jv
Interesting topic; I will rewatch this video in 10 years. Hope everyone has a meaningful decade. See you all in 2030.
  • @Luis-vx1tx
Andrew Yang is not a single issue candidate! He’s got 76 policies on his website!
  • @Zaekyr
This is a good video. I have been a supporter of the UBI idea for a couple years now. Primarily because I am 53 years old and have served in the military, have worked over 30 years of my lifetime mostly in construction but also have had to jump from job to job due to circumstance (like closings and health issues, only been fired from one job and have had over 20 "jobs"). I am physically damaged from accidents both at play and work and have a hard time finding work now because I have difficulty with many of the basic lifting tasks required by most "jobs". I do odd jobs for some cash and live with others helping the household to "earn my keep" (effectively a homeless vet). I am not allowed disability, cannot get the healthcare I need, and might have been looking forward to getting social security in 7 years but now it looks like I would have to live another 17 years to "retire." So yeah UBI would allow me to be "lazy". Sorry but I think I have earned the right to be lazy now by being a productive citizen for over a "lifetime". Yet what will most likely happen is when my situation changes again I will be homeless and another one of those that other people point at for being lazy and not wanting to work even though it appears I "could". With UBI security the weight of my current grim looking future would be lifted and I see the potential to pursue other goals like maybe teaching, or entertainment of some sort here on Utube. Myself I do not care if some people will sit around in their underwear shooting up heroin if they get a UBI. Most likely with UBI resources they won't last very long and by dying sooner will not burden society nearly as much. People need to quit evaluating things based on what has always worked in the past. As civilization progresses we need to change, adapt, and overcome. Better to do so by examining our future needs as a society than try to work it out after the riots destroy the foundations we have built.

Andrew Yang is and will be the best thing you guys from the US will ever get...
