2015: a euphorbia odyssey

Time lapse video of a Euphorbia obesa seedling. The video covers the time from the germination of seed to the point where the plant has taken on its characteristic spherical like shape, a period of about 70 days.

The two small leaves that are present almost immediately after the plant germinates are known as cotyledons. Most of the flowering plants are eudicots and they start with two cotyledons. The other large group of plants, the monocots only has one cotyledon. Grass, palm trees and lilies are amongs the monocots.
