1911 Match Barrel vs Factory Barrel Accuracy and Longevity Test from an Al Marvel Barrel Tester

Published 2017-08-11
Is a match 1911 barrel more accurate than your stock barrel? When should you change your barrel? We will test both a new match barrel and a 60 year old factory barrel from our test fixture made by AL Marvel (Bob Marvel never made this! Sorry!)
at 50 yards. Enjoy!

I have the upmost respect for your company the fact that you will make a video telling the honest truth and not trying to make your barrels seem like more than they are shows a lot about your business thank you for doing business with integrity and values.

I know from experience that this shop will not take advantage of their customers. They have had the opportunity through my ignorance to do or charge me anything and they won't. I personally came in with my 1911 with unknown thousands of round through it and asked if it was getting close to needing a new recoil spring and maybe barrel. They looked it over very well checked the spring strength and a micrometer to check the barrel and polished my ramp for no charge and said everything was fine
  • This is very informative and refreshing to see. Y’all are regarded very highly within the firearms industry and I can see why. I just recently fired a Clark custom high standard 22 and it was beyond magnificent. It made a smith and Wesson model 41 seem cheap and inaccurate but the best part about it was despite being a couple decades old it was still one of the most reliable semi auto 22 pistols I’ve ever shot. Cheers to great work and an honest video.

This is the only store I buy from wether it is a firearm or parts they are the best prices and service. I will not let anyone touch my babies except for Clark's

how did i only find this channel now! Clark customs are legend! my match barrel-bushing was made in the early mid 50s by colt. it locks up like a bank vault!

Have used Clark and Kart barrels. Both work great. Once had Clark weld up a factory Colt barrel so I could fit it to my pistol. Turned out great. Wish they still offered the weld up service. Clark Custom is the real deal.
  • I know im a bit late to watch this video but well done. Appreciate the honesty and integrity. I run a business and i run it the same way, honesty over money, no matter what. The retail companies i sell wholesale to probably dont love it but my customers do and thats who matter. Great job man.

Should I just send Clark's the barrel from my S&W 4506-1 and let you guys do your thing to refurbish and or re-accurize it? It has over 2000 rounds through it from me...and I'm sure at least as many if not more from previous owner(s), one of which I believe was law enforcement. I don't think anything is wrong with it...other than the grouping is not as good as my other guns so I'm guessing the barrel probably needs it. I love this gun primarily because it has never jammed on me the whole time I've owned it. Your thoughts?
  • @attybong
so, is the match barrel any better than the norinco stock barrel?
  • @TRRILCS
I watched the video to learn about match barrels. The time spent watching "@real time" shooting could have been better spent providing us more technical information. Likewise if you're going to make a comparison video, perhaps start before end of day or put a light at the end of your tunnel so you don't finish incomplete? Curious why you don't use laser fitted target blanks to set your gun up for 1st shot on target? The man has lots of knowledge and works for an upstanding company. A bit of help w editing and set up would go a long way.

What’s the difference it the Clark rampt barrel and the nowling barrel ? They both look the same ?
  • Will a Match barrel shoot hollow point ammo better than the stock barrel ? Does feed ramp polishing and throating make a difference in the function of both barrels ? Is it more costly to have the work done on the stock barrel compared to the Match barrel that is already , polished and throated ? I know the stock barrel was made to shoot ball ammo !
