Many years ago, i grew up without a father, thank you Imperial Japanese navy. At 13 yoa, I was reading an Outdoor Life magazine and found author Jack O'Connor. He became my mentor/foster dad/hunting professor. Steve's mastery of all things hunting and the respect he shows to the animals he hunts and the environment rates right up there with Jack. I expect another young lad growing up as I did, may just adopt Steve as their foster dad. I have read all of Steve's books and watch and re-watch his youtube videos. At the age of 78, I have had the pleasure of reading Robert Ruark, John Jobson, O'Connor and many others. Steve rates right up there with the best of them. I hope to live long enough to enjoy more enlightened and thoroughly entertaining work.

"If I were a turkey, I'd live right here...but I wouldn't call back to you"

Had the pleasure of bumping into Carl in those same woods on a different hunt. Nothing like keeping the tradition of wilderness adventures preserved for future generations.

I know we are here for the hunting but it would be cool to get some more footage of camp, eating etc... just a little more as to what goes into the whole hunt.

A Sand County Almanac is one of my very favorite books. I re-read it chapter-by-chapter, month-by-month every year.
  • Guys. I hope this format is giving you the money you need. It's awesome your able to provide these shows on YouTube. I love being able to see your episodes free for us, like this. Keep up what I believe is the best hunting programming in the world.

I’m a New Mexican and I can say although I haven’t hunted in other states, hands down New Mexico has some of the most diverse public land hunting you can do. Love seeing my favorite hunter hunting in my home.

The smooth buttery tones of Dr. Karl Malcom....awesome...by far my favorite Meateater guest. The Gila is a beautiful place

I'm from New Mexico. The Gila is great. Thanks Steve, we love your videos.

Man, people don't see this side of hunting often. It's so refreshing to see hunters share this same beautiful take on the world and nature. I didn't have a dad like this growing up to teach me these kinds of things but luckily through the Military, good friends, and people like Steven, I've learned just enough to hopefully teach my sons some things someday. Cheers to you Steven.

I had gotten so used to hearing Rinella's voice narrating these, great to see him back
  • While I'm happy to see the Season 11 episodes getting added to YouTube as it's more convenient to play on my TV, many commenters seem to have missed that all of Season 11 has been live on the MeatEater website for 10 months.

Without a shadow of a doubt this is my favourite series ever

Man I love these videos! Much support from Sardinia Italy!🇮🇹 My grandfather used to be a real old school woodsman down here and I was lucky enough to get exposed to that life as a kid. Now that I’m a little more grown meat eater and camping get me through that nature fever i get every month! 😂
  • You know it’s a great trip when you’re already planning for the next time. Nice show
