‘I made a grave mistake’: Ex-MAGA supporter addresses the DNC

I got into a conversation with 2 older gentlemen yesterday and politics came up. I am 62 years old and I live in a mostly red area. I let them know that I was a democrat. They both went through all the bullcrap talking points about Kamala being a failure on the border and how something needs to be done about it. I pointed out that a bi-partisan border plan, mostly written by a Republican had been voted down at Trumps behest so that Biden wouldn't get credit for it. Neither of them had the slightest clue what I was talking about. They knew nothing about the bill at all or even it's existence. They were so firm in their belief of ignorant dog whistles but knew zero facts. It is just mind blowing. It is so sad. I feel very strongly that we will win big in the coming election. I hope we can build back the trust of most of these people. A lot of them are too far gone and will never again believe what they can see and feel other than the MAGA lies that their whole lives are now based on. This video gives some hope though.

I was never a MAGA but I was a lifelong Republican who didn’t vote for Trump in 2016 but tried to support him and voted for him in 2020. I was immediately very sorry for that wasted vote. January 6th is what turned me against him totally. I no longer even call myself a Republican because I think they’ve all lost their minds. They are no longer a political party. They are the Cult of Trump. I’m voting blue right down the ticket.

Being able to admit mistakes takes more guts, than to stubbornly refuse to. This is something that needs to be learned for so many other parts of life. This behavior should get some kind of award.

I’m a former MAGA member. I voted for Obama in 08 and 12, and voted for trump in 16. I will never in my life waste my vote on trash like that ever again.

It has to be said. It has to be called out. Last night Fox News censored one of the most dramatic and crucial presentations made at the opening night of the Democratic convention. Three young women offered their personal testimonies of the anguish, hurt, damage, soul-searching, risks, and recovery they experienced when confronted with pregnancies that nearly cost them their lives due to draconian anti-abortion laws. While these three young women related their tragic circumstances to the crowd, silently both stunned and emotionally-connected, Fox News cut away and didn't, show ONE MINUTE OF THESE TESTIMONIES. I know because I switched over from one channel airing all to Fox which aired none. This media censorship was clearly intended by Fox as these stories were too powerful and heartbreaking for its viewers to confront. Instead, vapid and useless commentary by Kelly Anne Conway and others aired. After the presentations were concluded Fox returned to the convention for a short time. Then Bret Hume and the panel later complained that the Democrats were joyfully celebrating abortion. Such a lie and one that every viewer would know false, only if, Fox allowed these three stories to be seen. Never before have I experienced unAmerican and Orwellian programming such as this by a major outlet that was surely not brave and unafraid. Shame!
