After eight and a half months of war in Gaza, Israel still says it plans to destroy Hamas. But in an interview the spokesman of the Israeli army Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari told Israel's Channel 13 broadcaster, ''To say that we are going to make Hamas disappear is to throw sand in people's eyes. If we don't provide an alternative, in the end, we will be left with Hamas," He added, "Hamas is an ideology, we cannot eliminate an ideology." Hamas is classified as a terrorist group by many Western countries. In addition to its military wing, it is also a political force that has governed Gaza since 2007. We spoke to experts Daniel Gerlach, Gil Murciano, and Andreas Krieg about the Israeli military's demand for a political strategy for Gaza, and the outlook for peace and stability in the region.

    Ideology for independent never dies
  • Palestinians need immediate state recognition and the right to self-determination by the UN - WITHOUT US VETO
  • The IDF Spoke person is right, they can not eliminate Hamas by war, and he further said, "it needs alternative ways, that means through diplomatic, Political approach. Even some former Israelis, even US and EU officials admitted Hamas can't be eliminated by force. and it's true you can not defeat people fighting for survival, for freedom

As long as the EU US SK Australia is complicit with IDF, the world can only cry and do nothing, it's that simple
  • DW TV ( western media ) People of Palestine are living under a occupation since 1947 and according to international UN law people under illegal occupation have every right to resist their occupiers.

It seems important to point our that as the IDF failed to keep weapons and missiles out of Gaza during the blockade, it is unlikely that they have kept all the Hamas leaders in Gaza. They could be anywhere in the world right now.
  • The last guy is wrong. Gazans are sick of Hamas. They want peace. If Hamas is so loved by the Gazans, why haven't there been elections since 2006?
  • No one ever suggested the ideology could be defeated. But, the weaponization behind the ideology can be neutered to the extent it’s no longer capable of implementing violence to the levels of last Oct.
  • It's actually a trivial exercise to defeat an ideology. You just have to give the Palestinian people the right to self governance and conditions for economic opportunity...
