◾️About this video
Final Fantasy VIII's greatest mystery, "Hyne's Mystery," is approaching!

"Hyne" is rarely mentioned in the story, but I think that by digging deeper into this existence, you can feel the unknown charm of FF8.

It took a while to make, but it turned out to be a fun video!

  • Amazing work, That was so great being thrown back into one of the best stories I've come across in my life and learning something new. Mind blowing, keep up the great work!

3 Things: 1) This video is incredible. 2) Hyne is clearly Ymir, the Founding Titan. Wait…oops. 3) Did I mention this video was amazing? Subbed. Seriously though, awesome. I enjoyed FF8 when it came out when I was 14-15, but I didn’t quite grasp its amazing narrative and themes until far later upon further play through a, and this just brought back all that nostalgia and through-provoking ideas. Thank you! 🙂 PS. 4) Headmaster Cid is, and was, a lucky man. Because even 14-year-old me was like “daaaaamn…Edea is bad, in all the best ways…” 😅😊

Absolutely incredible mind blowing research on my favorite Final Fantasy. Loved this so much! Great job!
  • Combining this with the FFIII connection video, perhaps the research center being a past Tears' Point was what caused the Floating Island to finally fall? Even Desch hopping into a furnace couldn't save it that time. This is just speculation, of course.

This is top shelf lore exploration! Mind blown multiple times.

Excellent video. I think another big clue to Ultima Weapon being Empty Shell Hyne is that it holds the GF Eden, which has obvious implications considering Hyne created humans. Perhaps it was a tool Hyne used in the creation process.

This is a wild video. What a ride. Thank you for all the work you put in here!

The world building is weird (not you but FF8). Because initally you have a different concept, perspective and visualisation of Hyne. But as you trailblazed through the newly aquired information, It started to change the aforementioned. In the end I do agree... This Hyne, was the ruler of the Moon. Or atleast fought for the position and won, as it said in the lore (not specifically but generally). I was initially thinking it was GFs besides the monsters on the moon (origins story of that lol?), it was fighting. Before watching this video, l thought the love story element was also with Hyne aka creator of humans. And that being split itself for different reasons and journey's but eventually fated to find each other and reunite (similar to V and Demon Vergil in DMC5), as one or in matrimony. So, I was thinking Rinoa being the upper and Squall being the lower and eventually coming together as one, due to their Love. This would kinda reflect with Ultimacia (Rinoa/upper) junctioning (attaching) to Griever (Squall/lower) and why they were fated is because of them being hijacked by hyne. But then I watched your video and Hyne wasn't so benevolent but quite malevolent lol. I wonder whats beyond the Moon as it seems the place for where there was no time etc? Is those Island in FF8; Hell on Earth is it called? Any connections to this whole theory as an adjunct of the Tears of the Moon? Thanks for the excellent video. As a kid, none of this was really apparent lol.

Fantastic video. Thanks for the effort you put in to making this, it deserves a lot more views.
  • 意外と音声が無くてよかったと思います。FFVIIIも音声がないので、似合うのじゃない?ビデオ、楽しかったです。いろいろな情報を集めていただいたり、ありがとうございます。

Very well done, lots of new things I learned from this video.

I’m only at 17:25, so more to go but— Doesn’t Laguna specialize in physical combat? And isn’t he found and mentioned dozing off in an arguably ham-fisted amount of instances? I feel almost certain it’s Laguna after watching so far. Fantastic video, to spark curiosity in my favorite game, years later 🙏

That was an amazing and very logical breakdown of very few clues the game has about Hyne. Somehow it just clicks very well. Makes one wonder if this was somehow intended by the ones in charge of worldbuilding for FF8. Very subtle winks and nods like the moon stone being very observable during the battle with Ultima Weapon or the fact that there is any lore at all about Hyne is just screaming that this could very well be true. Most mysterious indeed.

This is well thought out and the closest I've seen someone go into detail of Hyne. I'm down with believing this theory! But I do have a question; what are your thoughts on Omega Weapon (found in Ultimecia's castle)? It's a reskin of Ultima but without the sword, but it uses strong magic attacks as oppose to physical attacks.
  • @sgimmigs1
Good theory. I have theorized before that the shadow in Obel lake was related to hyne because he was saying something about a village in centra but it was only ruins. And that the ''Power'' sorceress needed to pass to ''survive'' was Hyne's other half.

this is truly the greatest i've ever watched with regards to FF8 <3 at some point, i know there's a reason why there's a drawable Eden inside of Ultima Weapon :D and why Eden can be drawn in Tiamat in Ultimecia's castle w/c is presumably the Bahamut of the current timeline w/c is sure not a coincidence both (Bahamut and Ultima Weapon) found in the Deep Sea. :) i really love FF8 and its mysterious storylines :D
  • VIII's lack of wireless communications could have been a very interesting area to expand on and weave into the overall plot. I was kind of disappointed when the plot started diving into time travel nonsense. Still a fantastic game regardless.
  • @rgbcrafts
Well, FF8-2 as a sequel or prequel could delve deep on all this.
