Professional chef Saúl Montiel from Cantina Rooftop and home cook Emily are swapping ingredients and hitting the kitchen to make a calzone that nonna would be proud of. We set our home cook Emily up with $196 worth of supplies - everything she’d need to make Saúl’s recipe. Meanwhile, a modest $13 worth of ingredients was sent back the other way for chef Saúl to elevate into something gourmet. As is customary, food scientist Rose dialed in to assist our dear Emily with a few questions he had along the way. Which calzone would make you shout “mangia?”

Can we just appreciate that Saul is such a f***ing cool guy. He genuinely comes along as extremely friendly person.

Chef Saul is definitely the most creative of all the chefs. Without adding in a ton of extra ingredients he always busts out something very original and delicious looking.

Emily and Saul are the best personality combo out there. She's adorable and never afraid to take on a challenge, and he's charismatic and entertaining while also being educational.

We met Saul at his restaurant this past weekend. Genuinely nice guy that came out to wish my wife a happy birthday and take some pictures with us
  • @IraqVet0608
I love that he doesn’t do like a lot of chefs. He sticks to her ingredients, many pull out other stuff to do their dish. He does a great job of sticking to the assignment.
  • A Mexican and a Canadian make Italian food in the US. Looks delicious! Emily and Saul are the best!
  • I don't know why but everytime Saul is on a video my mood always becomes better. Everthing he says is either funny or educational. I actually never write comments except if I want to compliment Saul. Saul is just awesome and a cool guy.

Saul and Emily are the most entertaining people on here. Can’t wait to watch them.

When you screech when you see an Emily and Saul video, and your Mexican boyfriend looks over your shoulder, rolls his eyes, and says "oh your other Mexican boyfriend-numero dos". Dos?! Sir-- he was the first. Saul is always numero uno!
  • This pairing is golden. These super star personalities really putting the “epic” in Epicurious.
  • @chilibreath
Saul and Emily are becoming my favorite chef/home cook duo. Imagine if they team up against Frank and Lorenzo.
  • @SenFuyu
Saul when seeing the plate: "911?🤨" 😭
  • @TheGrimArcher
Emily is that dorky friend you'd like to try out new recipes with. You'd both end up making a huge mess, but had a lot of chaotic fun doing it. Saul is the dad we wanted as a kid, spoiled to all hell with his cooking. You know his family eats good
  • @Gikendasso
The giggle after Saul said “I love spicy.” I felt that. Because me too Saul, me too. 😁
  • Just saying, Saúl is the best person on this whole channel. Hes funny, entertaining and always catches my attention with his cooking and comedy combo.
  • @panic--panic--

  • @owtowler
Chef Saul + Emily is a match made in heaven. So casual, so insouciant, so hecking good. Love y’all.
  • @stepawayful
Yay Emily and Saul! Emily gave Saul exactly the same ingredients I have in my pantry.
  • Chef Saul's recipes are astounding. I made his mango/pomegranate guacamole and it took the evening. People talk about it months later.
