I accidentally discovered you could hit Oogie when Shock fires her rocket fireworks. Once I figured that out, the battle was ridiculously easy. Yay, video walkthrough complete!

They should make this into a movie and call it The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King Prequel :)

Not gonna lie, it's bastard hard in some places. You've really gotta keep at it and give it your all. And there are still no FAQs or walkthroughs on GameFAQs, either.

I'm sure Oogie will never die, as long as there are bugs.
  • This looks like an interesting game. I hadn't been aware there was even a Nightmare Before Christmas game until recently. By the way, what does the column of bugs that appears during the fight do?

The ending is supposed to be a intro to oogies revenge

Never was able to do this boss... And so I looked up this video. XD
  • This is a rather curious game. The core gameplay seems decent enough, and I love a good Metriodvania. Sure, the gameplay looks a little stiff in a few areas and the difficulty balancing is all over the place, but it has a slew of good ideas. Even though the visuals outside of the opening and closing cutscenes are mostly great (i.e. Jack's fluid movements), it's the story and character dialog that are the weakest parts of the game. It's not that the story is necessarily bad, but rather it's highly uninteresting. Besides the fact that Oogie is portrayed as a typical villain, Sally is hardly a meaningful factor in the plot. You could have the Mayor get kidnapped instead and the game's overall story wouldn't change much. As for the character dialog, it's rather hit or miss. Most (if not all) of the Mayor's lines are rather brilliant and within character. Jack, on the other hand, has pieces of his original character intact; however, they really dumbed his character down for this game. Overall, it's not a bad game. Of course, I would like to see an improved version if possible.

Well, the writing process for the film was Tim Burton wrote the poem back when he was a Disney animator. When they decided to make it into a movie, the music was written and the script was written around the songs. But while this game could've easily been on the Super Nintendo at the time of the film's release, I doubt it would've been as good. At the time, Castlevania hadn't gotten quite as good as it is now. Don't get me wrong, I love Super Castlevania IV, but it was still linear.

1: Yes. 2: No. I heard about that game, but I can't really find a copy of it unless I buy it and I'd rather not buy it 'til I've rented it or something. But I found someone else's Oogie's Revenge videos on here and they were pretty cool.

i like how oogie actually follows jack's orders by never leving his lair in the movie....too bad he left it in the oogie's revenge game...oh, wait he died cuz of that (again-_-)

I only had six and I killed him easy with one left over. Basically you just throw bombs into the bug bike's mouth WHILE THE GREEN THING ISN'T THERE to get the mouth to shut so you can hit Oogie with the bombs. I ran out of bombs (started at 70?) so I ended up using bats to finish it. Each time Oogie's HP goes down by a quarter, he destroys part of the floor. Once he's done this three times it means he's almost dead. Just don't hit him from behind.
  • Can someone recreate this game but make every boss have 2 form regular form and ultimate form also stretch out every area and have other worlds and add soul robber as an Easter egg that you can get after acquiring pumpkin bomb and using it at the starting area

It hurts, basically. It's more or less the equivilant of a large laser beam.
