Uniquely her own sound. Strong, confident, praiseworthy.
-
Julie Driscoll is my favorite singer।She is very dear to me,love her too much
-
54 years ago and Julie's style, hair, dress and voice would not be out of place nowadays. The only one of the four Auger, Baldry, Stewart and Driscoll I never saw way back then and really wish I had, she was special.

Julie Driscoll makes about everything better..
-
2 classic songs! Ranks right up there at the top with music/recordings from the same era as Dusty Springfield, Sandie Shaw, Cilla Black, etc.
-
Phenomenal! Should have been a big hit for Julie back then.
-
awesome!! the best of them all.
-
That opening horn is incredible.

Back in the 60's a musician never knew who was listening to their music. Miles Davis had Joni Mitchell records in his collection. Frank Sinatra recorded his legendary "It Was A Very Good Year," after hearing the original by the Kingston Trio. Now...Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger, Long John Baldry....they were listening to the Lovin' Spoonful? I guess so. Look at how many blues songs came from songs the Monkees made first. "Take a Giant Step," "Mary, Mary," "Last Train to Clarksville." Amazing.

Nice find. Never heard these before.
-
pure beauty

Whoa! This is great. New stuff for me and i like it, dig? So bloody British 60's! Driscoll's so very soulful and is interchangeable, so to speak, with Dusty Springfield and Aretha Franklin (Save Me); and foreshadows David Jones ' Ziggy Stardust and his Spiders From Mars. She's astonishing.

Best John Sebastian written song… Performed by beloved Cass Elliot
-
Thanks for the memories.... xox A groovy record!
-
and of course the Cass Elliot version with the Spoonful
-
love love this! sounds a little like Dusty Springfield

I know it's a personal preference/opinion, but I don't want us to think pavlovian-ly that something's "over-produced" just because we hear strings and horns. Even for the first track, I thought this was done very tastefully, never threatening to overtake the main stage of Jools' pipes. We also have to take into consideration the production standards/practices of the times. Not too much 'stripped-down sound' back in the 60's, baby!

All Blues, please. Her voice is... tasty.
-
great rendition. she would have made a great "Clea" in a good Dr. Strange movie
-
Jackie de Shannon does a good version on her Me about You album....not heard the Rotary Connection version jim
