2nd Half Recap – Chiefs Offense | Super Bowl LVIII | Kurt Warner Game Tape Breakdown

Published 2024-02-13
PART TWO – Here's a throw by throw take on what Kansas City did offensively in the 2nd half of the Super Bowl. By no means a perfect game by Patrick Mahomes, but by going throw by throw, I hope this helps you become a more informed fan! #kansascitychiefs #nfl #superbowl

Interesting to see Mahomes has room for improvement in terms of reading and pulling the trigger. Scary for the league.

Very interesting that the Chiefs had some poor designs and major technical issues with spacing but pull a few great plays out of their butts to win the game. Biggest adjustment was after halftime when they started getting the ball out of Mahomes hand quicker. Can't believe that Mahomes missed some of the easy concepts, but my gosh he makes just enough plays to win the game at the end. Definitely has enormous room to grow as a pure passer in processing the game, but his physical skills are amazing. Great breakdown and very detailed. Love it!

Kurt, please come to St. Joe to help with some of these fundamentals at Chiefs training camp. All these little details would make a HUGE DIFFERENCE for the offense.

Great point at 5:57 about the ball going where the front foot points
  • Love this studd. Shows the mistakes Mahomes made in both halves. The offense should have moved the ball a little better if he didn't rush his reads or footwork. Also shows some of the schematic and spacing issues. I'm surprised the 49ers didn't play more press man on the auxiliary receivers. Hopefully Mahomes continues to get better as he masters the mental aspect of the game. He seemed to make fewer mistakes with each passing drive in the game until he was perfect in overtime. Definitely interesting.
  • Kurt, for the love of god please let play run in full once before breaking it down. Great content brother.

Kansas City Needs to Hire Kurt Warner. I'm sure Kansas is close to his home.

You dindn't even mention the Rice option on the last 3rd down?
  • @povertyspec9651
Mahomes has won 50 percent of all SB since he became starter.

does anybody know of anyone doing run breakdowns similar to the way kurt does it in the pass game?

I didn’t think that the Chiefs played a very good game Sunday in the Super Bowl. But just like their Mimi’s read when Chiefs played Houston Texans in 2020 with Watson and Clowney….”let’s spot them-24 in the first half.” It was Just enough to give the other team confidence. And the Chiefs came back and won at 51-31…

I think Mahomes is fine right now with his physical ability to overcome lack of traditional footwork when throwing… but later in his career when he loses ball velocity those fundamentals will become even more important.

Easy to make plays when on every 3rd down play the chief o line man handling niners. Not one offensive holding call. Gee, easy to see how chiefs can pull this out.

If Mayfield ever ends up in a system ANYWHERE NEAR as well designed as what Maholmes always has, we'll find out that Patrick didn't magically become way better than Baker the moment they entered the NFL.

Kurt Warner was never as good as Patrick is, period. And I am a former St. Louisian. Neither in success or in skillset.
