Priorities and Changes: Homeschool and Life Chat

Published 2024-04-10
Let's talk about priorities and changes in this homeschool and life chat! In my homeschool and in my life, I am constantly re-assessing my priorities and how they affect my homeschool, my household, and my ability to function at my best. That means setting aside things (ahem, YouTube) at times. However, as much as I value margin, learning to pick things up that I've set aside when I do have time for them is a skill I haven't quite mastered, likely because I have a desire to give everything my absolute best. I'm trying to shift my mindset to being okay with showing up imperfectly - both in my life and my homeschool. Priorities in homeschooling is an especially important conversation, so let's chat about this together. See you in the comments!

Happy to see you back! I periodically check your channel to see if there is anything new, now I’ll just wait to see what you upload. Blessings!
  • I’m so glad you’re back !!! you are such an encouragement and a blessing 😊💕!! Yet I completely understand needing to prioritize and putting your family first that is what you should do, many blessings to you 💕😊
  • Oh man, I can so relate! I had a YT channel years ago when we first started homeschooling, and I deleted it after many years bc I couldn't do it all perfectly - GAH! After many years, I was searching for homeschooling high school YT channels, and there was such little dialogue with that stage of homeschooling. So, here I go again... but I struggle with the "all or nothing" syndrome. I've been working on it for several years now, and I'm getting better, but man! It's hard to rewire that way of thinking! Welcome back :)
  • Hello! New subscriber here! I can relate to so much, maybe even everything, that you said. I just came across your channel and I really like you already! I myself have started a homeschool channel recently, and as much as I love it, I can definitely see how the pressure to put out content can be a real thing. Like you, my top priority is my family and our homeschool. Everything else, especially social media, has to come second. If we allow that balance to flip, it would be detrimental to our homeschool culture. Thank you for making this video and being so transparent! Can't wait to see more! 😊

I am glad you're back. Your videos were very inspirational in the decision for me to pull my child out of public school at the beginning of the year. We have loved homeschooling so thank you.
  • Oh Jess, I can so relate to this! I just came back a month or so ago from a multi-month break here too. Plus, I can totally relate to the chronic illness side and just this last week I've been realizing how much more energy we have right now in this season. I can't wait to hear more about your plans and changes!
  • I also wish we could sit down for coffee! I appreciate your intentionality and the way you think through things. Very glad to see you back here!
  • @BaileyAcademy
I was wondering what happened to you! Nice to see you back.
  • @aperezjordan
Always happy to see your videos! We are in our 8th year of AO, teen years 😅 with all the extracurricular activities and adding a first grader next year. My chronic fatigue has improved greatly and also dropped some things that weren’t serving us. I’m feeling the itch to add/enhance something but not sure what…
  • @AngelaLeigh1
