  • Yes I heard the difference. One made my wallet scream Edit: Lol I've somehow got this recommended to me again a year later and I remember how much I thought the expensive banjo was and vowed to never spend that much on a banjo. I now got the OB 2 mounted on my wall😂

Often times quality is experienced by the player and less by the listener

The more expensive one has a fuller, richer tone, but not 14x better. The most important factor is the player.
  • Like others have said, I did hear a difference, but I wouldn't say it's a difference worth over 1700 dollars.

The $150 unit has a little more crack to it, which I like.

I do hear a difference. That being said, the $150 one is still a great sound for the price point, especially for a beginner like myself!

Sometimes it isn't what you got. It's how you use it.🙂👍
  • Honestly, his playing is what makes the cheap banjo sound a hell of a lot better than just the sum of it's parts. A good player can do that. High end gear can sometimes make a mediocre player sound notably better than they are. But only a truly skilled player can make bottom end gear sound on par with the cream. This guy is a banjo roller. Through and through.

The Gold Tone has a slightly brighter and more pronounced tone, but if someone isn't paying attention to the differences they won't really notice it.

I left my Deering on the back seat of my car outside a garage for about five minutes while I used the restroom. When I came back someone had smashed the drivers window and left another one next to it.

The less expensive one had an audible raspy click to each note. Which was actually kinda cool. The more expensive one had almost none of that, which was great for its clarity.. buy both
  • Dime bag Darrel would walk Into guitar shops all over the country, grab the cheapest guitar on the wall, plug into the cheapest amp he could find, and still get his tone and squeals. It's not necessarily the instrument, as is the hands playing it. Your damn good bro.

I am a starter who just bought a Rogue B30 Deluxe today! I hear the difference, definitely. But I don’t wanna break the bank either thanks for making sure I made the right purchase 😅

The first one is very bright and metallic, the second is more well rounded. I actually like the first one
