A PG13 Borderlands movie with dramatic changes from the source material basically became a product that, by trying to appeal to everyone, appealed to noone. The Borderlands movie turned out to be what everyone knew it would be from the start: a lazy, cheap, attempted cash grab entirely based on name recognition.

Points and laughs at another magical Randy Pitchford fail

When big names are in a video game movie it's usually a recipe for disaster. Kevin Hart had no right being in the movie and it felt like they were mocking the source material instead of actually utilizing it.
-
Can't believe this is how I learned that there's a Borderlands movie.
-
This is what Hollywood gets. You don't want to honor the sorce material? Why would the fans turn up? You did it to Star Wars, Marvel and Lord of the Rings, no one is surprised.
-
I dont understand how they choose to not be faithful to the source material, insult the fans, and then are surprised when the movie fails. The only question here is how much money is it going to lose?

"The cast is amazing" Lilith is 22, they cast a 55-year old actor to portray her. Then Kevin James as Roland, just wow. After that I instantly stopped caring.
-
Tiny Roland, sane Tina, grandma siren, mild krieg...
-
When your movie is so bad, one of the writers refused to put their name in the credits
-
You know what's sad, supposedly Eli Roth shot this with an R rating in mind, but apparently someone in Lionsgate decided to fuck that up and go pg13 and disrespect the source material. Questionable casting, a massive pool of shifting writers, executive meddling, etc, it's just sad.
-
Lionsgate has a problem with hiring the wrong people. Lionsgate hired people for Naruto live action. They canceled it because people didn't know what naruto is.
-
Kevin Hart casted as Roland. All you need to know as a Borderlands fan

Borderlands would have been much better off being a TV show with an entirely different cast of lesser known actors. A short movie isn’t enough to develop the story or the characters. They couldn’t have been any further from hitting the target. It’s a big shame, because Borderlands might not get another shot at a TV adaption.
-
I feel like Borderlands is one of those franchises that would be so easy to adapt to film because of the sheer amount of craziness and charm the games possess. They really missed a great opportunity here.
-
And on top of all that, Randy Pitchford, co-founder of Gearbox (devs of the borderlands series) said that an anime adaption would be a ridiculous idea and no one would like it. Even if it wasn’t an anime adaptation, an animated series would’ve been amazing. It goes to show just how out-of-touch Randy Pitchford is and how he’s running the Borderlands series into the ground with the failure of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. Borderlands 2 (a game that came out in the 2012) has more concurrent players than borderlands 3 does. A game that came out in 2019. I really hope Gearbox gets their heads out of their asses and gets rid of Randy Pitchford for good.

Honestly it wasn't a surprise how this turned out.

This is fantastic news - it shows that people don't want to watch a crappy film just because of the association with the game. If you release a subpar product and try to cash in from name alone, then this is what you deserve. If filmmakers took the time to understand their target audience and create a faithful adaptation then the situation would be entirely different. We deserve better.

U know it's shit when ppl dnt even wanna pirate it. 😂
