i had never heard of william kidd even though hes scottish. makes me wish we spoke about pirates in history, much more interesting than all the english kings.

I just saw the film of Billy Budd, which nails the sailors being treated worse than pirates point head on! So is it clear from the historical record that Kidd didn’t cross the line into piracy?

Your multiplicity of piracy literacy is hard to beat! I know how to pronounce Every now, too . . . It doesn't sound like the public hanging of Kidd's tarred corpse was too effective, judging by the dawn of the Golden Age of Piracy right after.

I was really looking forward to reading Why We Love Pirates, but I was quite disappointed by it. It seemed overly repetitive to me.
