He killed it as Zoro. Perfect cast.
-
zoro is one of handsome dudes in one piece as well so it fits
-
He's very popular in Japan. I watch Japanese dramas and he's a good actor and honestly was so amazed when it was announced he was casted as Zoro. He has a strict workout ethic and if u see some of his training videos, he really do put lot of effort. Also he knows some martial arts and his dad is also a pretty famous martial artist
-
I mean not to mention he was handpicked by Oda himself so I don't think any criticism is more valid than what the actual creator thinks fits his own character best
-
His sword play is really really good. You can tell he’s the only one in the cast that has been a long time martial artist
-
Mackenyu is about the be the sole reason I’m watching the live action. But I’ll stay hopeful that the rest of the cast will blow us away and keep us excited
-
Those people who didn't even watch the anime watched the live-action because of him. He is super popular in Japan and some parts of asia. He was part of some past live action movies as well. I believe he was handpicked by Oda himself because he is the only Japanese actor who is fluent in english, knows martial arts and has good build which all checked the boxes requirement to be Zoro. He is so damn great in Rurouni Kenshin: The Final which also played a role for him getting the role in OP.

His name Makkenyu, in Japanese, means "to save (people) with a real sword. It is a name that promised to play Zoro from birth. Moreover, his father is a famous martial artist and has appeared in Hollywood movies. Acting with a Japanese sword is known as "tate/殺陣" in Japan. Not many young actors, even Japanese, possess authentic tate skills. He has mastered it. His father was one of the five best actors in Japan with this tate skill, and he learned acting from his father at an early age. If a foreigner wields a Japanese sword without this tate technique, the Japanese will immediately know that he is just imitating. And best of all, he grew up in LA. No other actor has the tate skill and is a native English speaker.

So toxic masculinity says he wasn’t good for the role. He was literally perfect. And his skin looked flawless😌
-
His father is Sonny Chiba, the legendary martial artist. One of his father best role is Lord Conquerer in the movie Storm Riders. You should watch that.
-
He did a magnificent job as Zoro!!!
-
Bro he killed it as zoro he's one of the best SWORDSMAN in the entire anime 🎉🎉🎉
-
people be doubting already when it’s just a cast reveal, at least wait for the trailer
-
The Rurouni Kenshin live action movies are actually amazing! All 5 of them. I would highly recommend checking them out if you wanna see manga adaptation done right.
-
For those who think the cast was not suitable, Oda himself picked them. End of discussion.
-
He did good in rorouni kenshin
-
Literally he is the reason I'm watching One Piece lol😂
-
I mean, he's a geniune martial artist.
-
Damn, i was doubting at first but after that pic, he looks dope.
