When a baby elephant is orphaned, it is sometimes because its mother and family have been killed by poachers in the ivory trade. The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust in Nairobi, Kenya rescues these orphans and reintegrates them back into the wild herds of Tsavo National Park. In addition to elephant rescue and rehabilitation the DSWT also funds anti-poaching units to patrol the park and conservation efforts to limit conflict between humans and elephants over natural resources.

Went to this orphanage a number of times whilst I lived in Kenya, absolutely incredible place to visit whilst there, highly recommend! It's great to see an organisation like GoPro raising awareness of the monstrosities that these elephants go through/have been through.

The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is amazing! I have adopted 6 orphaned elephants and have followed their growth from the orphanage in Nairobi to the integration units in other parts of Kenya, where they "graduate" to when they're a few years old. At those places, the babies (still milk-dependent) start exploring more in the wild and seeing wild elephants at the watering hole, etc. Ex-orphans living in the wild also come to these locations to visit! And many times they bring their own babies with them. I would love to be a keeper at this place.
  • I love this. Such cute babies. Taken care of by beautiful people. New System.πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸ₯°πŸŒΊ

Thank you for your eloquent speaking on behalf of the orphans, Julius, and elephants everywhere. Say no to ivory. Share elephant stories with everyone you can. We can do better. We need these beings among us, in the wild.
