The moment you find out what Zero Dawn was and what happened to humanity back then, it was heavy. An apocalypse in every sense of the word.

Only part of the lore kinda missing that I enjoyed ingame was about how every single human on Earth was basically conscripted to fight the machines in a last ditch effort to stall as long as possible for project Zero Dawn to be finished. A war that only the highest in command knew could never be won, and that pretty much all of humanity would die so that a sliver of survivors could perhaps continue the species.

can we just talk about how a baby that was found in the most holy place to ever exist was considered an force o evil?

This game has one of the most beautiful ending scenes in gaming history. A beautiful place with greens and flowers and the body covered in gras and the face appears and is talking. Sad music. I can't describe how wonderful it felt to reach this moment. knowing, that aloys story just began. Thank you for this video. This gave me chills. I will now start the game from the beginning again.

This was the first game I played in a long long time that made me feel the same way I feel after I finish a book.

Goes from the beginning of the game to it's giant reveal in 15 seconds slow clap
  • @Dokdiamant
Sounds like the Story have some sort of a cliffhanger and a second Part was planed as it came out. Interesting...

Eh, close enough. As good as squashing a 50 hour game into three minutes can be.

Aloy’s story works so effectively because it’s the classic “Hero's Journey”. She starts in the Sacred Land, the familiar home, the “ordinary world” (for Aloy). She is set on a quest, to cure the All Mother and save the Nora, but she is reluctant as she has been scorned as an outcast her whole life. She receives “supernatural aid” with technology through the Focus, giving her abilities no other Nora posses. She sets out into the larger world facing many trials and initiations, and is guided by a mysterious mentor: Sylens. Along the way she gathers companions and allies, but also enemies. She delves into a deep cave (well, several), entering a nether world to face beasts and uncover secrets. This gives her knowledge and resolve to undertake the final stage of her quest. She literally meets the Goddess and is given a “magical” boon to defeat the Dragon. In the end she returns from her quest a child of both worlds. She is at peace with her tribe, knowing who she is and where she and her people came from. At the same time she has uncovered the past, the lost world of technology, and can move equally among it. It pretty much hits all the beats of classic myths and stories.

Minor detail: the robots went crazy because Gaia wasn't running the show.

hope no one who saw this hasnt played the gmae yet, this was such an epic plot twist

I just realized Elizabeth Sobeck and Elizabeth Kolbert are really similar names. Sobeck is the character that created GAIA as the solution to extinction in the game. Kolbert is a real journalist/environmentalist who wrote the 6th extinction book which is about the possible human caused extinction. So cool.
  • When i initially started playing the game I didn't expect much. Quickly realised how deep it is, to the point where even my mother enjoyed watching me play solely because of the story element. It is a masterpiece, and its sad that its exclusive to the PS4.
