Now with my $1200 phone i can record video for my $3500 VR head set!

I'll be interested to see how they get good 3D video when the cameras are so close together. Normally I would expect about 65mm apart for something like that. I'm not sure how they will simulate that.

Htc evo 3d was the first phone to do spatial video and pictures iphone your way behind that was released in 2011

And you can share them with anyone… pause…. With an Apple vision pro 😂

Wonder if you will be able to use this feature with the Quest. Apple Vision Pro is way too expensive.

Sooooo anyone figure out how to “send” the special video??? I can’t figure out how the damn headset won’t sync or connect with the iphone

hell yeah spatial video from ukraine and aleppo will be a huge hit in your app store!
  • I bought the Iphone 15 Pro Max, how to activate that spatial video setting?
  • @ramenlover1727
how about switching to rcs for texts apple no more blurry photos
  • Next phone will surly have the cameras spaced out the same distance as the average human eye to be able to capture turly realistic 3D videos

What about the regular iPhone 15 can it capture spatial video
  • actually it's kind of disappointing that this spatial video is fixed with no zoom capability, and still 1080o30fps after 12 years when 3d cameras came out. My 12 year old Sony 3d camera is much better and has zoom capability, thus enhancing the 3d effect. I viewed the spatial video footage with the Meta Quest 3 with 4xvr app and the difference is clear. they should have at least made a 4k60fps spatial video after all these years. 1080p is outdated.

What’s even happening here that distinguishes it from regular video?

I take 3D videos as a hobby and the 2 cameras of the iPhone are way too close to each other. Our eyes are about 3 inches (8cm) apart, therefore, for realistic 3D, the cameras should also be 3 inches apart. The iPhone cameras are close to each other, because you don’t want a change of the perspective or viewing angle when zooming. However, for 3D that different viewing angle is exactly what you need. They could use the 3D information from LiDAR data to convert the video to stronger 3D but they didn’t mention anything about it.
