Hey mamas! I am answering one of my most-asked questions today—how do we homeschool with toddlers?!

What’s even more exciting is that it is a part of an “Entertaining the Littles while Homeschooling” playlist, hosted by Toni over at @ourthriftyhomeschool !

So be sure to catch the playlist here:    • How to Entertain Littles/Babies while...

I’ll go first:
I’m Christina. I’m married to my best friend, Seth, we have 5 kids (ages 2, 3, 6, 10, & 14), and love our family, Jesus, and adventuring together.

We are passionate about being counter culture, including alternatives to traditional schooling. I have experience as a public school teacher, private school teacher, and homeschool mom!

I love the Charlotte Mason education approach, and many others, but I’d say I’m more of an eclectic teacher—mixing the different aspects of homeschool styles that I love—living books, literature-based learning, Montessori, and so much more!

Whether you are considering homeschooling, new to homeschooling, considering alternative ways to educate your child, or just looking for some encouragement and inspiration for your motherhood journey, I hope you feel welcome and encouraged here 🤍

  • My kids are 3, 9, 11 and the youngest does not like to cooperate at all during lessons. Even when we give her attention and her own time, she still demands all the attention when we do try to move onto lessons. It’s hard and even following so many wonderful tips, I find myself struggling every single day.
  • Yes, including my littles has always been a huge advantage! They love being part of what the “big kids” are doing.
  • Your kid trying to sneak by unseen in the background--that cracked me up. Great ideas! My little guy is 2 and definitely tends to cause plenty of chaos throughout our days.
  • @gbcflower
This is a great collab! I think I'm going to re-watch and take notes.
  • I always think it's funny when my youngest wants the worksheets that her sister has. Choosing Thomas Jefferson over Peppa Pig?🤔 It's funny❤️
  • Mine are 9, 7, 4, and 2. We definitely use naptime to get school done, but I also switch off with my older 2 when I teach individual subjects so there is always someone to play with. But I do like that you give them attention in the morning and bake with them. I would like to be more intentional with my littles as well 🥰
  • Great tips! This is one of the top questions I get asked🙂
  • Going outside helps us a lot. The big kids can do their lesson while my youngest plays near us.
  • My older daughter used to go into her playroom when I studied when she was younger and she told my younger daughter to do that and I feel like it’s a good idea for 1 kid but she’s allowed to come into where we homeschool and I often open the door to the playroom so she’s near us but in a different room. I love the idea of busy bins!!! I’m not worried about her education at this age as she’s 4 and doing preschool but I want her involved. I cuddle my daughters in bed as they wake up. My teenage son is awesome when we stop on one to one study time and he’s doing something difficult!!! When my older kids where younger we wasn’t homeschooling so we came into it knowing it was easier but we knew we would be adopting.
  • Great tips, Christina! We loved sensory bins! My oldest still like to play with them whenever I get around to setting one up 😆😆
