I actually managed to do this with two separate image planes; one for the eyes, and the other for the mouth, so that I could have even more variety of expressions without having to make like 50 images lmao Thank you so much for this, it was fun to learn.

There's a faster way to connect the face plane with the head: In edit mode, if you select the four vertices of the side of the cube you want to attach the face to, then hit Ctrl + G to add them to a new vertex group, you can then give the face plane a Copy Transforms object constraint, selecting the object to connect it to, and then the vertex group you just created. It keeps the plane connected no matter how you move the character, and can be applied to any vertex group anywhere on your model! I'm not familiar with Minecraft animations, but I assume this and other object constraints could be useful in a lot of ways, so I hope I could help out.

Well brother, I was struggling for days to know how to switch face textures like that. I've seen tutorials dealing with multiple nodes in the Shader Editor, which was a bit too complicated for a beginner like me. But tonight, I've found the easiest and perfect tutorial <3 It looks so logical to do it in this way now.
