The first time I've ever seen Pope Francis I thought the guy looks like Jonathan Pryce. Now here's Pryce playing him. Great casting.

When Anthony Hopkins shouted silence, I literally stiffened. This looks really good.

"Being a pope, you must remember you are not God, you are only human." this is powerful, and everyone needs to understand this

Just watched it. I was captivated by how outstandingly natural a movie about Catholic Church can go on to such universal and human dilemmas. It's such an intelligent and thought provoking work, not to say anything about the raw and sincere approach. This is not the kind of movie one would expect to restore faith on Church; but by conveying a message of peace, tolerance, compassion and forgiveness, pillars upon which the very Church stands, it goes beyond. To reproduce the words of a Metacritic analyst from The Globe and Mail: "It's extremely difficult to make something as invisible and ineffable as religious faith seem real, let alone touching, on film; doing that is only one of the achievements of Fernando Meirelles' unusual look inside the papacy." A must-watch.

One of the best movies in the last two decades in my opinion. No special effects, no nudity, no extravagant superhero outfits, no award winning musical scores. Just two legendary experienced actors giving it their all, bringing to life some damn well written dialogue that can make you laugh, cry and think.

Listening to Mercedes Sosa singing in the background is just amazing. May she Rest In Peace.
  • The sarcasm is thin in this movie, where the conversation between the popes is brilliant!

for a second i was like , “wait a min did vaticano allowed netflix to film the pope , is this happening? “ , omggg he looks exactly like the pope
  • @sbotan1
High Sparrow and Dr. Ford in the same movie? Heck yeah.
  • This movie is beautiful, it can truly touch hearts. I wasn't expecting it to focus so much on the years Argentina suffered from dictatorship but they did, a lot, and it was heartbreaking. I hope one day, no country will have to live such pain any longer.

“Golden Globe Nominee Jonathan Pryce“ This is so ridiculous. He should have been AT LEAST nominated for an Oscar by now
