You always see this rated as one of the worst Sabbath albums, but I love it. It's an album my best friend from high school & I killed a lot of brain cells to, it has a special place in my heart.

This is one of my favorite Black Sabbath albums. Ian Gillian just has that smooth sound in his voice for this album. No other Black Sabbath singer would have done this album justice.

I have felt for years that Ian Gillian deserved more respect for the vocals on this album, Sab fans to busy missing Ozzy or Ronnie to appreciate the fact this veteran singer just singing his heart out on this album

Love the Ian Gillan record. I got it on vinyl. Bought it when it came out in '83...

This album will always be a "fall" sounding album to me. I remember getting suspended for a day or so in my freshman year of high school. My father (RIP) still let me go to the November show. Again the fall season is so evident.
  • Purple Sabbath! Easily the best post-Dio album. I don't know why it got a lot of hate, Ian absolutely rocked it here

Black Sabbath - Born Again - Lyrics As you look through my window Deep into my room At the tapestries all faded Their vague and distant glories Concealed in the gloom The icy fingers of forgotten passions Softly brushing my lips At the tips of my primitive soul As you look through my door Deep into my room Can you feel the mighty wall of power It's waiting waiting in the glow The distant shadows of forgotten champions Those who live in me still And will rise when we challenge and kill Born again You'll be born again Look at this prince of evil Fighting for your mind Fighting all priests of shame For the thrust of my challenge is aimed At the hearts of mutant gods Who think we're all the same They're controlling our minds And they use us for fortune and fame As you look through my window Deep into my room At your future and freedom The grey and plastic retards all floating in circles And as you taste the fruits of new sensations Softly brushing your lips As we rise when we challenge and kill Born again You'll be born again If you want to be a king for a day Just do what I say Everybody's got to think like a hunter Just search for your pray Be alive through the night and the day Just do it my way
  • No one could replace Ozzy for Black Sabbath fans but if you take this album on it's own and don't try to think Ian should sing like Ozzy and realize the band had a new sound then this is a very good album. I love Black Sabbath with Ozzy but also loved Black Sabbath with Ian and wish he had made a few more.

This album and this song especially proved to the world that Gillan still fucking HAD IT!! Those high screams are so amazing... love this.

Ian kicks ass on this record, different but an awesome record, never get tired of listining to it !!
  • The sad, meloncholy riff, over and over doesn't get old. I sooths, heals, and doesn't tire.

man this song is pure poetry... i love this album and Ian's voice was perfect for it. He capture the best of his vocals performance. I wonder what he thinks of it today.
