OTHER EQUIPMENT:

Lahmian Medium: amzn.to/2Wz65VK

Plastic palette: amzn.to/2OyfzOt Although these days I prefer to use a wet palette: Everlasting Wet Palette: www.redgrasscreative.com/everlasting-wet-palette/e…

Desk Lamp by Redgrass Creative: www.redgrasscreative.com/redgrass-r9-desk-lamp/?re… (I actually use a larger, overhead lamp when filming, but this is a great hobby lamp for most people)

PAINT BRUSH: Rosemary & Co Series 8 Size 2 - www.rosemaryandco.com/series-8-pointed-round?u=217… (select "short handle").

Rosemary & Co Series 56 flat brushes: goo.gl/sMuHrA (I used a size 2 and a size 4 in this video)

Daler Rowney Flow Enhancer: amzn.to/2HMR1AF

Testors Dullcote: amzn.to/2WBiLM0 or Vallejo Matt Varnish: amzn.to/2WBjpJq

Tamiya Fine White Primer: amzn.to/2I1bqkF

OPTIONAL ITEMS:

Vallejo's Dark Earth paste: amzn.to/2FLIA6u

Army Painter Battlefield Rocks: amzn.to/2WDDNcX

I used the following grass tufts from Gamers Grass www.gamersgrass.com/ although you could of course just pick a couple to use:

Dry Green (2mm)
Moss (2mm)
Dark Moss (2mm)
Autumn (5mm)
Burned (6mm)

Hobby Holder: gameenvy.net/

For airbrush users, this is the black primer I use: amzn.to/2HOc8me

And I also used Cold Grey and Dead White from the Vallejo Model Air range.

This is the airbrush & compressor that I use (although it's somewhat overkill for basic priming duties!): goo.gl/9NSaSX

White Tack for sticking the minis down: amzn.to/2WBlghm

Citadel Mouldline Remover: amzn.to/2FNbcfD (although I normally use a standard craft knife)

BASE SIZES:

In the base game there are 27 X 25mm bases, and 4 X 30mm bases (for the Hungry Wargs, and the Hill Troll)

ALTERNATE PAINT SUGGESTIONS:

For the yellow-ish skin tone, Ogryn Camo mixed with a little XV-88.

For the Caucasian skin tone: Cadian Fleshtone mixed with a little Abaddon Black.

Also - Flat Brown can be matched using a roughly 3:2 mix of Mournfang Brown and Rhinox Hide.

  • For those of you that are using this video as a complete intro into painting minis. I would recommend that you do the Ruffians separately, so you are not overwhelmed by the amount of minis to paint. There are 18 minis total, so taking out the 6 Ruffians might make it more manageable for those that are just starting out.

I'm a brand-new painter and I found your channel through mention by another channel - The MiniJunkie - and I am SO GLAD I did! Your step-by-step instructions in this video makes me feel like I can really paint some great-looking minis! I love that you are very clear on all your supplies, how to mix the different colors, what order to paint the various parts, and how to use the shades to add contrast! Thank you for the great tutorial! I am off to check out the rest of your channel to see if you have any more videos focused on the beginner painter. 😊

Thanks again for another excellent guide. I love how you cover your same techniques in multiple videos, it works well as reinforcement of methods of painting. I am not sure if I am getting this game yet, but I am definitely going to keep watching for ideas and tricks.
