Tired of background noise? Drape a thick blanket over yourself and the mic while recording. You will LOOK stupid, but nobody is going to SEE you on a audio recording, and it is the closest thing to having a "Dead room" (no echo from walls, background noise, etc). Also make sure you are on carpet or a rug, the floor can really reflect your voice as well. Hope this helps everyone. - Kevin

These tutorials from this channel kickstarted my life as a multimedia artist back in like 2014
  • Holy cow! This really improved the quality of the audio recording! I still need to see how it works on our longer duration recordings, but man, what a difference! Thanks!
  • @PhilJonesIII
This is great. I have a voice that sounds like a sparrow being strangled. With this trick I sound like a butch sparrow. Thanks for posting. works well.
  • @AllAboutScience

This is really improved the mixing of my covers so much! I uploaded my first cover last week and it was really bad! the volume goes louder at some point then does softer again. My friends are even shocked by the improvement I made in a week! THANK YOU!
  • @ATIF3D
Wow, I'm impressed, you provided all the info related with your PC/Laptop in the description, that's quite rare here on YouTube. Good Work!
  • @OnlineStudy247
    1. Change noise profile 2. Echo- 0.1, 0.1 (This can add an extra flavor) 3. Compressor, threshold (-15 to -20; suggestive -18) 4. Equalization, Bass boost, select default 5. Equalization, Treble boost, select default 6. Hard limiter, (-0.2 to -0.5; suggestive -0.4) Thanks for such a good voice suggestion...
  • @RockstarLittle
Very useful audactity information here for all youtubers, thanks a lot!

Thanks! I've been using Audacity for a while, but I hadn't used all of the steps in your list. Much improved, and my recording was done with a pretty low-rent condenser shotgun mike in my office with ventilation noise and ambient noise through the wall and a vent from a staff lounge next door. I'm pretty happy with the results.

This helped me out a lot! I make covers for songs using the UTAU program and I just could never seem how to "amplify" my voice without it sounding like it was going to blow the speakers. Thank you so much!!
  • @Nick4X
when u have a headset and ur only an inch away XD
  • In general, Bass Boosting and Treble boosting is decent, but the defaults are WAY over the top.You should never do it over 6 db generally unless something went really wrong with the recording. Doing it to 9 db like here is overkill and pretty much makes it noticeable that you're modifying your voice - it gives the slight automoton-like ring to it in the background. The other contributing component is when you treble boost that much, you get all those spikes that you have to hard-limiter. Hard-limiters distort audio quality. So if you can avoid creating huge spikes with treble boosting, you can probably avoid using the hard limiter altogether. These steps are good, I would just say play around with lesser emphasis on the bass/treble-boosting 'till it sounds better.

I am so happy you posted this man! I hope you don't mind, I'm going to record vocals for my song and post a comment with the link once I finish using your techniques. Have a great one you've just done me a service, thanks again.
  • Just wanted to say thanks, I use this for my podcast every week and follow these steps. I know nothing about sound editing, so it's perfect and my voice sounds good.
