**DO NOT CONTACT AFFORDABLE EBIKES LOOKING FOR AN AXEL, THEY DO NOT SELL THEM**
The axle of my ebike hub motor stripped. In this video I go over how I did this Ebike Hub Motor Repair doing a full hub motor axle replacement with a new axle from the manufacturer. This process will be similar to what you'd expect from a Bafang Hub Motor, but this was done with Greenpedal Hub Motor.

In the typical TheHowToDad style; no specialized tools were used in the making of this video!

"OOOOOH THERE'SNOGOINGBACKNOW" I felt that SO MUCH. I always feels so freaked out when a project requires me to mess with wiring. Thank you so much for making this video! If I ever need to disassemble my ebike's motor, I'll feel a lot more confident!

Great video, and perfect for a person I know who's looking to do the same job. I've had hub motors apart dozens of times, but the axle and windings are about the only thing I haven't done yet. Most of my motors are Bafangs, and the magnet structure has slots that you can put the puller arms into. But I do it sideways in a bench mounted swivel vice so not to worry about the magnets dropping back into place. Thanks again for the video!

Love this video. Thanks for the great break down of parts and framing great shots of the work. These little motors are really amazing.
  • A little dielectric grease will help that wire assembly slide in easier if you put a light coat on the sheathing. Try to keep it away from the end though, it'll make it tough to grab the end when you're pulling with pliers.

Great video. I need to replace that same wire, and now I’m feeling rather confident that I can do it myself.
  • There's no commutator on a brushless motor. That's what the hall sensors are for. The rotor is the outer part with the magnets. Hub motors, like ceiling fans, and ebike motors have the rotor on the outside and the stator with the windings in the center.
  • The problem you had feeding the wire into the new axle. Next time take some 50 lb braided fishing line it's got the diameter of about 12 lb test strength and small diameter. Tie the braided line to the wires harness feed the fishing line through. Before you put the axle in. Then once it's in the braided line will help you pull the wire through. That's all I've done it and works good also you can take something basic like butter from your refrigerator put it around that harness it'll help it feed it through through with ease. Interesting pointing out that hole it's supposed to take Grease. That was frustrating how to take it apart again. Anyway great video

  • Cool hard job done, so I decided to don’t do it my self. To complicated to change axis my self. Thanks You save me time

I pick up an e-bike for 50 bucks at a garage sale because the guy overloaded the motor and from my understand I either have to replace it or get into find out what's going on. This tutorial was a great understanding on how the system works. Good job and thanks!

Thank you this video come in handy replacing the cable and hall sensors in my motor 👍

Thanks for showing the tear down and rebuild of the electric bike hub motor. Will help me when I have to do it for my face wise, as my hub motor doesn't spin when there's load on the bike, only when it's in the bike stand with the up motor.

Great tutorial. Needed this. As mechanic, the best advice you have is wearing safety glasses. I came thisclose to losing an eye but for safety glasses. /Bklyn👑

Brushless motor…no commutator..a great project, hope I can service my motor as easily!
  • Very good video, One thing I would include, if you have never done this before take lots of picture to help you remember how to reinstall thing back in the correct order a lot of us have done this so much we make it look easy.
