Father Mike and I respond to the flak Bishop Barron has been receiving on his recently expressed view that we may "Dare Hope" that all men will be saved. I share a story that I think illustrates the importance of Bishop Barron's reach and mission. We go on to talk about when it's appropriate to correct public Catholic figures and how to do so in charity.

  • Bishop Barron brought me to Catholicism this past year. I am currently in RCIA and deeply grateful for his social media outreach.

ā€œDaring to hopeā€ is not the same thing as ā€œdaring to proclaim definitivelyā€ that all might be saved. Every single person is not without hope, and we should approach our evangelism with the confidence and optimism that every person is a potential recipient of the transforming grace of God
  • I am not a Catholic but I am a Christ follower. 50% of what I watch on YouTube to learn more about Christ is catholic podcast. Protestants and Catholics alike are Christ followers. I wish all Christians would come together to make this world a better place. Thank God for Bishop Barron. He is one of my favorites. He feeds me in a way that a lot of protestant preachers do not. I just want more God in my life period! End of story.
  • There should be no shock over hope for universal salvation. This hope goes all the way back to the church fathers. St. Gregory of Nyssa comes to mind. A sophisticated understanding of hell tells you that everyone who is in hell actually wants to be there due to willful isolation from God. It is a logical result of free will. The hope and desire that all creation may come around to willful unity with God is a very Christian and loving sentiment.
  • Barron is a great teacher. We all have gifts-you will be judged on how well you use those gifts. Diverse gifts-one Spirit. We are not all evangelists. Gossip is a sin. I wonder how much of our knit-picking comes close to that. Bishop Barron is a hard worker. He explains the mysteries so indepth, I praise God for him. He's got a handle on love. He thinks thoughts others seldom touch. What a valuable asset to our Catholic faith! āœļøšŸ™ā£

Pleased that Fr Mike agrees with the Church, the saints, and TnT. I'm impressed that he can put things so....calmly.

Bishop brings comfort. I am not Catholic yet I often listen to his interesting way of using story blended in a very sweet truthful voice. Clear, kind and loving way to lead and bring people to find peace. Anyone who does not approve of him can just move away. If God is what Bishop Barren says that is nice.

O my Jesus, save us from the fires of hell, and lead ALL souls to heaven; especially those most in need of thy mercy. Also see Rom 5:18.
  • @poliklolik
If Barron just said that all who love God and keep his commandments have a reasonable hope to not enter the hell it would make more sense

I am sure that Bishop Barron has saved many a soul for God. And I am also sure that Satan has a particular hatred of him for doing so. It occurred to me that the Evil One may have stirred up these controversies to discredit all the good resulting from the Bishop's work. I suggest we pray regularly for all our priests, and especially for our evangelists like Bishop Barron and Father Mike.

Finding Bishop Barronā€™s YouTube channel is what brought me to Catholicism. Heā€™s brilliant!! Those who dislike or criticize him are not able to understand and appreciate his knowledge.
  • @deeelliott6205
I just listened to Bishop Barron again making his comments and I heard nothing heretical about them at all. He is a brilliant god serving evangelist of the modern era and his comments unite rather than divide. Thank God for him.

With God all things are possible, i dare to hope and this makes me strive more fully with God in the persuit of salvation... bless you šŸ˜Š

Even Peter argued with Paul over how to reach out to converts.
  • @alvc22
I loved that statement "It's the body healing itself" šŸ„°šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ™
  • @phillynch4971
Thanks for clarifying that that is not vodka, I thought it was! lol
  • @PogLife2171
"Dare we hope" is perfectly appropriate and captures the great mercy our lord has for his people. And Bishop Barron has been really clear and carefull to make his points without dismissing the possibility of Hell.
  • @towerburkindine
PS thank you Matt Fradd and Fr. Mike for bringing it up. Iā€™ve seen Bishop B on Pints With and Heard Fr. Quote him. Iā€™am glad you both brought it up in such a kind way!!
  • The real question is how much we live up to "By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.ā€
