When I worked At Valvoline Instant oil change They would Make me try to sell cars with only 20.000 miles a engine flush There was no purpose of that it's pretty much a brand new engine and Make me push an engine flush on every car I don't feel comfortable selling people products they didn't need So I quit I don't like Scamming people I like to help people
  • If you ask 10 different people about an engine flush, you might get 10 different answers. lol
  • Key point here… engine flushes don’t create problems. They reveal problems. Most people don’t need to do them, but there are times that it might be worth while. Just be aware what you might be risking

I changed the oil with oil additive and flushed the engine every year on the ol' 91 Corsica and had it for seventeen years and it's still running great! I still think if you have a engine with a light lifter tapping, flushing the engine before the oil change might open up the clogged lifter oil port and cure the lifter tapping!
  • If I had a dollar for everytime Scotty says "when I was a young mechanic" 😂 I'd have enough money to pay someone to work on my car!
  • I'm a mechanic and I've had multiple engines with top end noises that sound exactly like a collapsed lifer or a stretched timing chain and oil flushes have corrected the issues 80% of the time. It's all about your personal experiences
  • "Running like crap",shiws picture of fat man running, epic savage moment scotty 👊👍
  • @wolfblud3861
I have never had a want or need to buy a brand new car. So I've always bought used cars, trucks and first thing I've always done is engine flush/oil change besides all fluids and tune up. People aren't exactly truthful about what they've done to take care of thier vehicles especially when selling. I do it so I personally know what has been done and hasn't left me stranded yet. Love the videos as always. Im 50 and learned from my father who was a mechanic when I was a kid and am so thankful for all the knowledge he imparted to me.
  • @patrickryan2614
Moral of the story: buy classic cars that you can rebuild the engine yourself in 2hrs and at a cost of $75
  • Every time Scotty says "Now, back when I was a young mechanic!.." I get a smile on my face...
  • I change my oil every 5-7k miles i check it often for texture and color etc. My 01 Tacoma 432,439 miles on her factory motor and transmission

Flush engine oil? Most people I know, they don't even bother changing their oil. They just ignore it until their engine clacks like a diesel. Great video as always Scotty!
  • @cxs4990
Flushing your engine is perfectly fine, just make sure that you rinse the engjne with clean oil after flushing, means 2 times oil change and 2 times filter change.
  • @kcwkembm
i had an old pickup that was reading>3 psi oil pressure. ran an engine cleaner through it and it jumped to 60 psi in under a minute. still driving that truck today with no major oil leaks.
  • @Powerslider
I love your channel Scotty. Always straight to the point, no seconds wasted. Respect for your knowledge and skills sir!
  • @Daniel-xq7ny
Yep, he's 200% right! Changing your oil often, is the real deal!
  • @crisismcnoodle
If an engine is held together by the sludge it's probably on it's last legs anyway
