KAYAKING IN THE SNOW: Summer was taking its sweet arse time to arrive in Australia, highlighted with a dump of unseasonal December snow. As I don’t own a sled, and given May hadn’t seen snow before, we loaded up my kayak and headed to the hills for a day of newness.

This is Day 6 of 'The 12 Days of Newness'

G'day folks! Thanks for watching Ep.s 1-6. I had a blast doing them and Mitch and I and Jodi had a blast making them. But we need to take a few weeks off to smell the roses and have a Christmas for a few days before heading to the US and Canada. Rest assured the remained episodes 7-12 are shot, almost done and will come to you early in the new year. Freefalling, using a tub of Vaseline, a trailer full of rubbish and making hay while the sun shines are all coming atcha in Block 2! Have a beaut final fling in 2022. Goodonyas!

This is officially the most adorable Beau Miles video ever to be produced, and I wager it’ll be the most adorable that ever will. What a great kid, probably from having such great parents!

There’s something incredibly precious about a child seeing snow for the first time
  • @VorpalSlade
Her apologising when you fell over was so precious.
  • @Aidan.17
May is an amazing human being you must be a proud dad!
  • Australian here, bringing some weather context. This video is probably filmed in early summer/late spring here in Australia. We get snow ❄ in Victoria, where Beau and I are from, up the mountains in winter- (June, July, August, September), but we have had the absolutely freak occurrence of summer snows in the mountains this year- one of which Beau lives near, and is visiting here. (Mt Baw Baw, a mere 1500m elevation, one of the smaller ones, but a fav of mine!) This year in Victoria, Australia has been the coldest, wettest year almost on record - we've had flooding all over our fair state due to the La Nina weather system, which is also why it's been so flipping cold, and why Beau and May can go snow kayaking here!! What you're witnessing here is as close to a white Christmas as Australia can get - it's usually pretty hot here this time of year, and the snow would be non existent, if not melting very quickly in November / December. Anyway, enjoy the video. It's going to be 30*c in Melbourne, Victoria, Aus tomorrow, and it's about time!
  • For anyone like me wondering where Beau has been, he posted this on Instagram last week: ‘Beau, you fraudulent bastard, where the hell are the final 6 days of newness!?’ Or, ‘Beau, you bastard, are you ok?’ It’s nice that folks care about my wellbeing, or use a lack of uploads as an excuse to give me a subtle dig. Emails have come thick and fast since Christmas. Ok, y’all, here’s the update: Me and the gang are back from the US and Canada after an awesome tour in Jan, and back from the beach in Feb where Helen and myself and the girls had a glorious 12 days of sand between the toes (code for me writing my book Bad River occasionally, and Helen going back to work). And after a shoot in the hills last weekend… Mitch and I are back behind our screens, chopping up footage in small green chunks of digital dust. The six final days of newness are mighty close!! Thanks for your patience, goodwill, and belligerent/endearing chastising.

Youtube videos don't get much better than this. Thank you Beau
  • @bc3_mtb476
Such a wholesome video. I couldn't help but have a huge smile the whole watch. Good on ya mate! May will cherish the memory her whole life I bet.
  • @NZKiwi87
Oh the joy on her face Beau! This takes me back decades, to a childhood with an similarly present father figure. You are giving her an enormous and eternal gift, thank you 🙏
  • @JayKaufman
The unbridled joy on your daughter's face when she gets to touch and play in the snow for the first time is heart warming. Seeing as I live in Canada, we take this for granted. Good on you for being a super dad!
  • @zhiyanfu236
Classic Beau. Drinks tea with old milk in it. May has her mum's good looks and her dad's indestructible digestive system.
  • @sammyn549
May was giggling and having a great time in the squooshy snow with her Dad. Goodonya, Beau!
  • @YoursUntruly
Man this made my heart happy, I’m Canadian so we kind of see snow before we even realize we’ve seen it before. But the absolute excitement in her eyes and her smile is contagious. 🖤🖤
  • As someone who had an unfortunate father figure in my life but is married to a star father to my children I wanted to tell you that I smiled and laughed this whole video. You are a fantastic entertainer and adventurer. But better than anything you will ever accomplish is you are a stellar dad raising a joyous and kind daughter. Bravo.
  • As I watch this, a blizzard is raging outside my window. They say it's a once in a generation storm. A large swath of the United States and Canada is paralyzed, tens of thousands of air passengers are sleeping on terminal floors tonight, Christmas plans thrown into chaos. Roads are impassible, many homes are without power or heat, and it's -16C & the snow keeps piling up. Listening to your daughter laugh really lifted my spirits, reminding me of just how magical snow can be.
  • I’m stuck in hospital at the moment and Beau’s videos are a real ray of sunshine during otherwise dull days. Thanks Beau - you’re a saint!
  • @gahzmate2226
aaaand the award for most wholesome video on youtube today goes to Beau and his daughter
  • @chronicfish
The fact that May apologised for you falling over, melted my heart (and possibly that entire snowy mountain). ❤
  • @jdmCrush2
You and your team make the greatest videos on YouTube. They’re not sensational, they’re pure and captivating and make me a better person than before I watched. THAT is what you should be most proud of with these videos— not giving into cheap tricks, just phenomenal punchy storytelling.
