THE DAY MY HAT DIED: My magnificent hat has lost the will to live. After fifteen years of sun and body fluids, with a heavy heart and a head full of memories I take my favorite, thread-bare, stinking, beyond-repair hat for one last run.

  • "Practical and a bit feral. Even ugly, some would say, means this hat and me are a bloody good team." - What a beautiful quote and story!
  • "I love the idea that we transport ourselves through life with tools." 6:49 "The cruelty is that the better the tool, the easier it is to forget about them, because we're so deeply engaged in whatever the tool has allowed us to do." What a terrifc and well-told story! Incredible and inspiring.
  • It's literally not my hat and yet as Beau ran into Walhalla I genuinely felt sad and nostalgic for something I've never owned.
  • @gwarlow
09:03 “The hat represents time, which represents mortality.” Such a well crafted sentiment. Cheers.
  • You inspired me to run my first marathon which I completed last weekend. Wish I could shake your hand to thank you for getting me into this running business.

I think myself lucky to have found this channel. Beau embodies all the philosophical and adventurous qualities that I pursue in this quest in life. I'm James, 26 years old - and I'm at a transitional time where a big chapter of my life is now closing, but as long as I keep my health and my core values true to me - I will find happiness in every day around my own "outback". Beau has been an inspiration to my running and I enjoy doing half marathons of my own creation! I only hope one day I can do an experience such as your 650KM Alps run. So, to everyone here - May you live and find happiness every day of your life.
  • Beau's film-work, his unique outlook on life and the people and things around him makes his channel the best on YT, by far. Being a film maker, I can only hope to achieve such confidence and proficiency in crafting stories, the way that he does. Seemingly out of thin air he grabs these ideas, yet, they entail so much meaning. I hope he never quits film making, just as I hope that my favourite pair of jeans-shorts that I have stiched up so many times and that I have been wearing everywhere for the last 10 years, won't quit on me :D.
  • had possibly the worst year of my life this past few months and all I can say is that your enthusiasm and joy for life has helped me to see the beauty in the small things. thank you Beau for being a bright and positive light in the world x
  • Find someone who loves you as much as Beau loves his hat. Always inspiring stuff mate 🙌
  • @pas69tie
my hat that i have had for 20 years and worn on all my adventures was lost to a river.... it was ripped off my head.... just couldn't take the force of the water, went into a hole and never came out. dove after it repeatedly and waited in the water for almost an hour until my legs were so numb i could hardly walk. it was fitting end to a great hat. heres to your hat mate. :)
  • Man I wish Beau can just multiply himself to make like 5 more Beaus. They can all go out and do their own stuff...I'd eat up all their videos. I hate rewatching anything but I find myself rewatching Beau's videos all the time. Sometimes through the mundane marathon of life I forget the spirit of adventure and Beau's videos never fail to reignite the flame! Grateful to even have 1 Beau putting out his odd films often enough!
  • The hat is as much a part of this channel as you Beau, and your accent. All hats go to heaven, where they turn into halos.

I was just thinking "must be about time for another Beau film" and Bam! just made my day
  • @TNEBL
I don’t think I’ll ever stop marvelling at your ability to create a truly engaging story from something as simple as a hat. Keep them coming mate!
  • My floppy hats last day was spent in the southern alps of New Zealand, doing what it did best. Then I stopped by a lake, took my hat off, rinsed the sweat out, and the cotton on top just dissolved like a flimsy paper tissue. What an epic place to die. Miss that hat.
  • A masterclass in sentimentality. Cheers to every old hat that's been 'round for far longer than anyone wanted except for the one wearing it.
  • @Nacknor
Please, never stop telling these wonderful stories. They inspire and makes people think about life and the world they create around them. I will never stop watching and listen to your thoughts. Thanks!
  • Who knew I’d feel emotional about someone else’s hat. Amazing how he can tell a story about something so simple yet find depth and meaning.
