Jody sold her big house, did a year of downsizing coupled with no retail shopping and purchased land and placed her new tiny home. She was not talking about going tiny, she was going after it with all she had. It was great to meet her and learn about her life!

Girl....keep that sofa. It looks sooo comfortable. A lot of tiny homes have those storage seats that look too high, too short (width of seat for holding your butt) and too uncomfortable. Even if you recover it keep it!

"If you don't remember you have it, you probably don't need it." This is very deep.

May I suggest something? I have done it in my kitchen. I cover the sink with a piece of wooden board when I am chopping veggies etc. And thus increase my counter space.
  • I love the colours and overall style of the decor, and finally, a bedroom that is bigger than a coffin. Most bedrooms in tiny houses are terribly claustrophobic. Here I see she sacrificed the ceiling height downstairs so she can have more space upstairs which is great. She's got plenty of space for a tiny house and a normal sofa. There are sofa beds with storage underneath which are still comfy, but many tiny house owners build benches that don't really look comfy or big enough for proper relaxing.

This is probably the most realistic tiny house I've ever seen! It's a large amount of space for one person and not so severely minimalist. She's able to keep a lot of stuff AND have decorative elements that bring her joy. LOVE IT! <3

You need to stop listening to your friends, do and keep what you want!

I appreciate that she explained the progression from living in an 1,800 sf house to a 500 sf apartment to a Tiny House. Also, how she explained not to get rid of stuff all at once. And to wait until you move so you don't toss things you really want to keep.

Getting rid of the sofa would be a mistake. 1. nothing will be as comfortable; Foam does not come close. 2. In the spirit of downsizing, here you are, already planning on how to create more storage to have more stuff. Honestly there has to be something in your life that is not a compromise at all, whereas comfort is concerned. A very comfortable mattress and a very comfortable place to sit are hands down vital. 1 luxurious thing is more than 10 compromised things.

I'm a historian. My favorite period is 1830's American West. So I found a 900 sq ft house that I close down to 600 in the winter. I decorated it with memorabilia from the 1830's. I live what history taught me is a pioneer life. That's the point. Material needs are minimal. Store bought is minimal. Like then no banks in my life, no credit cards, not even a debit card. I have a checking account to clear my social security payment thru. In one corner I have a desk top computer to look out at the world and laugh at the insanity. Retired comfortably on 750 a month income. Pioneer lifestyle is cheap.
  • This is my favourite tiny house so far. It looks SO spacious, and the layout is so inviting. I would keep the microwave and add a small dishwasher to the kitchen, I love the idea of the drop-down add-on for the countertop. But I love everything else about this place, Jody included. I love her whole vibe.

Oh My God, just seeing this. Would love to see the updates since this is from 2018. Love the element of surprise. The dark wood exterior is nice, but when you walk through those doors and you are welcome by all of that burst of color and clean angles, light and brightness, it's just joy. It automatically puts you in a great, happy mood. Love it! Please show us her updates.

I love that you did not give up your life. You just got rid of stuff that consumed time! ONE awesome place! Love it!

Me and my husband have a small home not so tiny. It's a 24' by 48' foot home. We are off grid we live on 5 acres, we have solar power and a wood burning stove. We love it.
  • @Soxandnicole
Wow, I like this one a lot. The staircase is my favorite.
  • I love that she shows her own style when decorating her tiny house; it is so beautiful!

I love the configuration of this Tiny House. It looks spacious and the height of the lofts are not claustrophobic. I can't wait to see what you will do with the outside area and the changes you have planned for the inside. Thankyou for showing us your lovely home.
