On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.

If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Gentlemen, we have seen the return of the phoenix

F15 radar plus this would be ridiculous. Imagine an F15EX missile boat handing these out like Oprah.
  • @Kastev30
AIM-120 + AIM-54 = AIM-174 But unlike the AIM-54, the AIM-174 should be much more maneuverable and able to track fighters. Pretty neat that the Navy decided to cobble this together tbh. Should provide much more breathing room for fleet defense until the AIM-260 becomes fully operational.

F-15 and those missiles would be unfair to everyone

It should be noted this missile has been rated for use on the Super Hornet, not sure if the legacy Hornet is rated to carry this weapon. Also the max range of the missile is well beyond the max radar range of the Super Hornet, so it actually relies on other platforms to acquire targets for it and pass that targeting data to the launch aircraft.

I was literally just reading about this missile and 10 minutes later GS makes a video about it 🤣

POV: The US Navy casually negating any and all range advantage any country may have held by strapping the most lethal Naval SAM in the world to a plane. Considering the SM-6 has a sea-launched range of ~230-250 miles (Granted, with a booster), we can safely assume that a 100 mile shot from high altitude with this thing would be simply trivial...

China and Russia: We out range you with missiles America: give me like one day, hold my beer, Phoenix baby is born
  • @AndyKraken
The publicly listed range for these missiles is 150 nautical miles when launched from a ship (with a booster). When launched at 30k feet from an airplane going supersonic one can only guess how much that extends the range (theorized 200+ nmi). And it's carrying a 140 lb warhead. Extremely scary missile to face

I would like to see it used with datalink. Have F-35's BVR fight and also guide these Aim-174Bs to separate targets. Include AWACS in the rear covering a fleet. I believe that would be their intended use.
  • @toothlessDJErcik
You should arm the F-15C/E/EX (EX would be the best) with AIM-174B and you should do BVR against MiG-31s carrying R-37M asap lol
  • @rtpfixit
SU-57: "I zee you have extra missile. Please may I hold?"
  • @DonutGuard
One of the few videos where GS goes true sniper mode. 1 shot, 1 kill. 4 Missiles, 4 Aircraft. One of which was a Gen 5.
  • @zachn5529
The navy has already stated these have been used on active deployments I’m pretty sure. They should be used in DCS more regularly.
  • @utley
an AWACS datalink would absolutely be necessary to launch on those aircraft OTH as that missile was meant to do...hope I see it here today! that missile has over 200nm range, shooting that thing at 5k will still get you well outside his MAR. Oh, and BTW...AIM-54 + AIM120 = AIM174.
  • @mkaverage1791
It will be interesting to see how this missile's air-to-ground performance compares to the AMRAAM...
