This video will show you how to hook up and set up a new Xfinity xFi Gateway Modem (XB7), the 3rd generation of xFi Gateway Modems. It will also briefly go over how to set up the Xfinity app which you will use to initially setup your modem. However, this video will not go through the entire app setup process.

Thank you so much for this video cus waiting on hold to speak with a customer service rep for over a hr is ridiculous so thanks
  • I've paid for Xfinity internet for the past five years, I pay for 100mbps and it's never above 30mbps unless I call and complain, then it's around 100mbps for a day or 2, and back to 30. I've called about this no less than a dozen times over the past 2 years... and the last two times they scheduled a technician to come out where I had to be home for a 2-3 hour window, and both times the technician didn't show up, didn't call, didn't care. Comcast is the most awful atrocity of customer service on the planet. Last time I spoke with them, their suggestion was that I pay more for faster speeds and lock into a 3 year contract with them. Why would I pay for faster speeds when you only give me 33% of the speed I'm currently paying for?

This is the BEST tutorial I have seen on setting up a modem. Very clear and concise and the explanations were easy to handle. I did this project in under 10 minutes because of your help! THANK YOU!!!!😀

Videos like these are why I appreciate the internet
  • I watched several how-to videos on this subject, but still couldn’t work up the nerve to tackle switching my old modem to the Gateway one-until I watched this one. You did a fabulous job of explaining everything (Ethernet cables? What are those??🥴) clearly and understandably, all the way through to even locating the correct Xfinity app to download and use. I was successful on my first try. I can’t thank you enough!

I wish I would have found this video first. You make it so simple, it took 2 hours to figure from the little info they sent me. thanks

I'm about to set up my xFi Gateway, but I have a much older gateway that I'm replacing (Arris TG1682G). It uses both telephone ports and I suspect one connects back to the computer for various functions. Anyway, I'll just set up following the instructions you give, which by the way are great. Thanks!
  • Thank you so much I'm a senior citizen and found a very confusing on how to set it up I have the setup part right but not to get the app thank you again for all your help it really did

Thanks for the how-to video. The Xfinity video was worthless but using your video I replaced my old, intermittently failing router with the Xfi in about a half hour, start to finish, with no issues. I did have to re-add three Wi-Fi booster pods to the network but the Xfinity app handled that easily.

The Xfi Wi-Fi speed is triple what I had before and signal strength is strong throughout the house now. Thanks again.
  • This is wonderful! When I called to inquire about it, I told the lady I am not tech savy. She said something like, "no problem, it is easy, you just plug it in". But I hesitated and did not go ahead with the purchase. Well, needless to say, for someone like me it is not easy! Still not certain if I will get it, but if I do, this will help immensely.
  • Thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to explain how to set the new modem up. It work out perfectly. 👍🏿

Thank you for this great “How to”. Just so happens I am replacing my modem as I watch this. Definitely much easier watching this compared to waiting 3 hrs for a callback from Xfinity! 😂

Thank you for the help. I was worried this was gonna be a nightmare like last time, but this went much better than before.
  • How to connect cables to TV and computer and do they have to be connected together? You do a great job explaining the steps. Thanks!

Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I know how to set up a modem, but the xFinity app made it seem like I had to scan the barcode first. I had a devil of a time getting to the point where you can actually activate the modem. They made it so much harder than it had to be. And for anyone who is interested, yes, you can use your existing ethernet and coax cables. I wasn't sure, but I didn't want to have to re-string everything. If anyone knows if the new cables provided add to speed or quality, please let us know.
  • Your explaining how to is simple, no muss, no fuss (no cussing me 🤬).
I appreciate your help and I will subscribe. Thank you!
  • Thank you so much for this video! You have no idea how informative and easy it made our set up. I told my husband I wanted to send you a thank you card! LOL

Great video. So much clearer than the Xfinity video explaining the same thing. They should hire you to make their videos. Thanks
  • Xfinity just sent me a “new” modem. It’s a xv6 like the old one in your video. And it’s sticky and has scratches on the top. Thanks, Xfinity. So great for the $300 a month I am paying you.
Nice video - just wish I had the nicer modem!
