My Cancer Press Tier List

As was reported might be the case, it turns out that the first day after chemo is pretty OK, but then it gets progressively worse until day 5 or 6. I'm now on day 7 and feeling OK. I've had many (but not all!) of the expected side effects, but my appetite has been good, which is very good for the quality of life! Glad to be through the worst of the first treatment, but obviously I've still got a long way to go. I wouldn't want everyone to think that Day 7 is indicative of how you feel while you're doing chemo...if you had seen me on Day 3 I would have been 100% horizontal.

I hear it tends to get a little worse every time (though I've got some tips for how to maybe make a few things hit a little less hard!) Really glad I was feeling good enough to make this video! It was nice to do something normal.

Thanks y'all.

Hank

"Hank Green's Brother, John Green, Announces that He Thinks Actually Every Headline Mentioning Him Is S-Tier" -John
  • @movierecaps_
I wish John Green's brother a speedy recovery
  • @TripleDaddy
Hank using "How soon they mention John" as part of the ranking is fucking hysterical. Legit laughed out loud. If something like this ever happened to me, I can only aspire to this level of humor and grace. Hank is S-tier.

"It is Going to Make Things Difficult (for me) and is Nearly as Bad as Tuberculosis" Says Award-Winning Author, John Green, Regarding Relative's Health Diagnosis.

“I think you got the vibe wrong,” said Hank Green, as he bounced around making a hilarious tier list of news outlets reporting on his cancer, grinning from ear to ear. Love you Hank, never change 😂

Just the way Hank says “I don’t feel like that’s the right vibe, I think you got the vibe wrong” will forever live rent free in my brain

Somehow this immediately and very unexpectedly became one of my favorite videos of all time. The nerdy-ness (meant as a compliment), the morbid humor, the lowkey sibling rivalry, and an incredible video idea only someone like hank could come up with. Perfection

I’m an 8 year stage IV colon cancer survivor, diagnosed at 29. Treatments are hard, but in my case they were successful (I only had to do 12 rounds of chemo). I actually participated in a preventative immunotherapy clinical trial that I found on my own. There are so many better treatment options now, and new ones in the works. Good luck to you.

The sibling rivalry is real. John: spends months obsessing and educating about the world's most deadly but treatable disease. Hank: gets cancer Always trying to one-up your brother 😅 Sometimes I make jokes when I'm nervous

The only man who casually makes a tier list cancer press tier list, absolute mad lad

Including the pencil picture for no reason makes it so much better. Chaotic happiness is your vibe Hank, they hit the nail on the head.

Hank, almost immediately after sharing intimate insight into his life, vibe checking the news outlets spreading said intimate news is the definition of grace and s-tier humor ❤
  • @chada4806
Honestly, putting this in a tier list is a badass coping mechanism. I fully intend to incorporate this into my life, if allowed.
  • @JMBAD_art
You know what’s S-tier? The concept of this video. You’re killing it king 👑
  • @niki9185
I love how even though Hank loves his brother so much, John being mentioned too soon in the article is a factor in bringing the scores down. Perfectly sums up what it’s like having a sibling

Hank, when I was diagnosed with my chronic illness I had to spend tons of time in the hospital and kind of fizzled out of school. I was always really interested in learning though, and your sci show and crash course content carried me though that time. Now I'm in college, double majoring in two stem disciplines. Seriously, you kept that spark alive. Best wishes.
  • I like that we all understand and accept that Hank's allowed to make his videos however damn long he pleases right now

My wife pointed out that we played Super Mario Bros in the chemo suite when I was being treated from Hodgkin's lymphoma, because we loved watching you and Katherine play it on Hank Games. Thanks for making my chemo more bearable 10 years ago!

LOVE this. As a cancer veteran who just got re-upped, I have learned that attitude really helps. Maybe it is just because attitude is contagious, and those of us in the patient role in the cancer movie set the tone for the rest of the cast. It also makes it clear that we are actively involved in the process and it isn't just raining down on us. The score card is brilliant. Although I have to say--I personally loved the photo with the out there costume. After this is over, I think it could be repurposed for next year's Met gala.

"I don't feel like that's the vibe. I think you got the vibe wrong". The sassy head movement got me. Hank, you're a treasure! We're rooting for you Hank "hilarious, quirky, Science guy" Green. Lots of love from Germany!
