  • when you feel like quitting, wait for 24 hours. you will feel differently and feel grateful for what you have and how far you've come
  • My garden did so badly last year but this year it’s better than ever before!❤
  • James, you have no idea how you have touched my heart. I am suffering from cancer, and sometimes I just want to give up. Every thing you said also applies to life. Next season I hope to bloom again...
  • I’ve been gardening for about 3 years and in those 3 years every failure has prepared me for the next season. I came up with a solution for each failure. This year is so far my best directly because of this. I am finally at a point where my crop is exploding and I am getting a higher rate of edible food. When the animals were eating my crop I covered all my beds in deer netting and when the bugs started eating some of my crop or killing my plants I now spray them with a mix of Neem, vinegar and dish soap. Now I barely have any loss of crop. Those failures helped me get to my best year ever so far.
  • Just love you James! I'm 74 and have been organic gardening most of my life. But there are times when you just have to sit back and respect the drought, the excessive rain, the bugs. And know that there will (hopefully) always be another season.
  • If Tuck doesn’t quit I won’t either!!! LET’S GO!!!’
  • @angorachic
I was in the garden today. This is my first little raised bed and it is not doing well. I came in the house and thought about quitting, just pulling out the plants thinking I am not good at this. I will get my little bed ready for the fall instead of quitting. Thank you. This is the only channel that I belong to, I really appreciate what you are doing here and the wisdom you share with us. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ for Tuck.
  • Keep our little king cool, he deserves only the best because he works so hard♥♥♥
  • My mother used to say, James, that every year is a certain plant's year, just as you said here. Maybe this year the tomatoes are great, next year something else. Her many years of experience taught her to enjoy it and take it all in stride. You are a master gardener, and a good and wise teacher. Thank you for this and all your videos sharing your expertise and encouragement.✨🌱🏆
  • Your wisdom goes well beyond the garden walls. "There's a level of stability that comes with diversity." So beautiful. Thank you James.
  • Well James, here in the Netherlands we had a horrible start of the season, rains, snails, millions of snails attacking everything even plants they never look at. Your video just came up in time, thank you for the booster to keep on going.
  • My mom was put on hospice last month and I've been doing a lot of gardening to make it beautiful for her even though I'm only a beginner. Your positive energy helps me stay motivated!! Today I started some pea, zinnia, and marigold seeds!
  • Quit? Never! Especially not in this crazy world right now! We're starting hundreds of seeds for a glorious fall garden. Blessings, James and Tuck. ❤
  • As a 69-year-old first time gardener, my whole garden was a learning experiment this year. The carrots and beets did so poorly that I yanked them up and replanted that bed with pickling cukes and zucchini (both of which are doing very well!). The tomatoes are growing so big and fast that I'm having to add stakes daily to keep them from tipping over. I figure any food I get this year (or any year, for that matter) is a blessing I'll thankfully accept! I'll spend this winter getting the supplies I've learned that I need for next season. Your videos are a big help, and my Yorkie, Murphy, enjoys seeing Tuck, though he gets a bit envious of the garden snacks. 🙂❤🥕<-- heart and carrot for Tuck!
  • You are gifted with encouraging others. Let me encourage you! You are much appreciated and admired.❤
  • @jeremymcdonald2020
God Bless you James and Tuck! Giving us the good with the bad, and more importantly reminding us to be less goal-oriented and more focused on improving our growing systems slowly overtime. Glad to see Tuck standing strong in the face of everything, we have kept him in our prayers. ~ The McDonald Homestead
  • Please don't quit. My Daughter quit, because she had these Grasshoppers took iver her garden. I let her start over at my house. Garden is doing very well. Just a little encouragement to keep your head up😊💙💙 🤗
  • Even though I don’t have much of a harvest in my little garden, I receive so much more in peace of mind by just puttering out there every day. Gardens are beautiful therapy!
  • Yes! My garden is teaching me what every plant needs. I'm grateful for the experience. Thank you James for your support.
  • What a kind, loving, supportive video you have given us. Thank you so much. It means a great deal to me. I'm still a newbie because I did quit years ago after only one VERY successful rookie year followed by a problematic year. I'm back now with the soil and already seeing the wisdom of your words - even though I was away for years, my recollections from those first 2 years helped me and my raised beds achieve much better outcomes so far this year. Again, thank you so much for your thoughtful and powerful encouragement. What you say has meaning far beyond the garden, too. 💜
